| You could ask the same question about the Muslim countries!! They never use their left hand to eat as it's classed as a dirty hand, but they accept the fact that we are not Muslim. One exception is do not ever offer a Muslim your left hand when shaking their hand, that would upset them.
As for India, never really thought about it.
There must be someone who could answer your question.
I would imagine there are loads of left handed people who visit India.

| Goa and India has changed a bit. Indian custom dictates that the lfet hand is used for bodily functions below the waist and is hence unclean. Consequently, it is an insult to shake hands with another person using your left hand. Also, one must strcitly avoid offering or taking any thing with the left hand - this applies to money / change especially. People will avoid accepting the item if you use the left hand. Another important rule is not to use your left hand to pick up or offer food to another person. It renders the food unclean and unfir for consumption. You can use your left hand, however, to put food into yoru own mouth. But at the same time, you may not use your left hand to pass the food to anyone else.
Hope this helps

| No right hand? Thats tough!! :) Makes it very difficult, then! Some people would understand, some would not. I've had the funny experience of offering a thirsty friend some water, and on his accepting my offer, giving it to him with my left hand. Guess what, he takes the glass, but leaves it on the table right through our two hour visit. Only after he left, did I realise what the matter was.
