| Have been to both places. Both are completely different. The sex scene in Thailand is too much in your face, and most assume that you are visiting only for those reasons. Its strange but visiting a girlie bar is really the tourist thing to do. But thats only about Pattaya and Phuket. Bangkok is really very nice, and there's loads to do and visit.
Goa on the other hand is a different cup of tea. I think that there is much to be desired in terms of cleanliness and the infreastructure to travel around. Also, very disconcerting is the fact that the taxi drivers have formed a cartel and not only charge exorbitant amounts of money for trips, but also in most places get a commission from the restaurant or shop to which they take you. I've seen this in Malaysia, too but in Goa, the taxi driver insists that you visit 'his' choice. Having said that, i prefer Goa for a holiday, great food, loads of sun, the chance to meet some really nice people, and lots of activity. And cheap jewellery, trinkets and clothes to take back.

My Profile
| been to both thialand is stunning and the scenery and trips are fantastic, but the shims, she men, the gay people, the sex trade far to in your face i have nothing against any of the mentioned and each to there own but when your walking down soy banglar and men with breast pop them out and strip off infront of children far to diverse for me.
so goa goa offers great scenery , great trips, better food than thailand, and the people in goa are more friendly and charming. goa every time

| Hi
Ive been to Thailand ( Bkk & Phuket ) and to Goa i would recommend Goa every time for these reasons.
1) i would take my kids to Goa and know they will be safe but i wouldnt take them to Thailand.
2) The ppl in Goa are more friendly and accommodating than in Thailand
3) Its cheaper to stay in Goa than in Thailand
i hope that helps
peace out

| I have been to both and would nl;t hestitateto say go back to Thailand if you like good food and service. I don't know where these otehresd stay to encounter so much sex etc.. we stayed in nice resorts in and around Phuket -granted at the top of the mid- range and they are lovely --we also go out in the small towns and have lovely casual and fine dining. We stayed aththe Hermitage in Goa - on of the best --and the beach was dirty and not such nice service --and we loved the rest of India --but Goa for a beach did not compare to fine Thia resorts.

| Hey,
Always Goa, South Goa
I recommend Patnem Beach because is very nice and quiet, but you have the infrastructure necessary without too many tourist.
I was in Lotus, http://www.lotus-yoga-retreat.com, south end of Patnem. For me was the perfect place, with very nice staff (i think that its run by european people)and very quiet, they offer yoga, and healthy food.
See you in South Goa

| I am a Goa Fan through and through I have been 4 times. Cant knock the place at all. Amazing country, culture and people. If you really want to you could root out some dubious places to visit in goa its worldwide if you want it, with this outlook I am visiting thailand in 2 weeks time.
I am going with my Husband and two daughters for 5 weeks. We have friends both thai and English living in Pattaya and working in Bangkok.
We are spending 3 weeks hopping between Koh Samet and Koh Chong etc. wont be visiting the South this time. I understand about all the sex trade in Thailand but i also know it can be avoided if neccesary. Why anyone would take there children in those areas is beyond me. I am not nervous at all about my kids being with me an have researched family friendly resorts and outings etc.
Remember The Thais have children and I think it insults them slightly to suggest Western children are not safe. Good parenting and well researched info is sufficient.
That aside I will let u all know if i was swayed from my Goan roots , i enter Thailand with an open heart and mind but a shrewd head on my shoulders. Here Goeeeeeeeeeeeees
