| Can anyone give my any info about the above apartments. I recently booked through on the beach holidays. I can find no information on these apartments apart from a small write up on the on the beach website. Also can anyone give me any info on Gouves like good restaurants, bars to go to please.

| We arrived (Party of 7, 3 rooms) at the Rena Apartments and were greeted by the friendly owners and the Barman. On first impressions the apartments looked lovely and just like the photos.
One the first night the owners couldn't do enough to be accomodating, unfortunately this is where the good hospitality ended!
The ladies in the shop pounced on you whenever you passed trying to get you to buy stuff from them, forcing a basket on you even if you just went in for a can of pop. This got tiring after a while and just made us feel uncomfortable. We spent a lot of time in the bar attached to the apartments next door (Valentinas, lovely young owner and plenty of music and free drinks) and discovered there was a long running dispute between the two sets of apartments. Rena would sit and watch if anyone staying with her would visit and buy things from the shop next door and fall out with you or shout at you if you brought them back to your apartment. It just made for an uncomfotable stay really. If they put the effort into running the apartments instead of watching your every move to see if you shopped next door then this place could be lovely.
For what we paid the rooms were what we'd expected, very basic but clean enough. We were led to believe that Air Conditioning was available at an extra cost but I couldn't see any units in any of the rooms ourselves or other family were allocated. Even though they managed to wash up daily, we had to ask to have the sheets and towels changed and this only happend once throughout the 10 nights we were there. Toilet roll was not replenished and we always ended up having to go and ask for some.
The apartments are a long way from any real life and expect long daily walks (25mins each way) in the hot sun for resturants, beach and shops. If I were going to Gouves again then I would definately choose an apartment closer to the centre strip of Gouves or the beach where the cheaper bars were more accessible.
Recommendations for food would be the Oasis or Illios (on the beach). We ventured up to the Old town twice during our stay and ate at SPIROS, lovely chap, really grateful for the business and made you feel so welcome (plenty of free Raki and wine!)
Some more of our party stayed at Cosmi Apartments which was far better located with a lovely pool and bar. Given the choice again we'd all stay there!!!!
Overall, Gouves is a nice quite place but bit too spread out and detatched, making it a chore to visit different eating places etc, would choose a diffent resort to try if returning.

| We had a wonderful stay in Gouves in May this year. Please read my review. Another advantage of Gouves is that its not far from the airport so your holiday lasts longer!!!!!
