Hello.

My boyfriend and I would like to spend a week in Greece next summer but we're not sure where as there are so many islands and resorts to choose from.

We're in our mid-20s, are looking for a place which is quiet during the day, close to the beach but with a fairly entertaining nightlife. We're not bothered about clubbing much, but enjoy eating out and going to nice lively bars.

We'd like somewhere with a nice scenery and traditional restaurants etc...

Also, anywhere fairly close to a waterpark would be a bonus

Any idea that would fit this description?

We've been looking around and Kefalonia, and especially Lassi, has been coming to our attention.

Do you think this will be a good choice?

Any recommendations regarding hotels/appartments, and restaurants/bars/tavernas?

If you are going to hire a car then go to SKALA and try the Paspalis on a B and B basis. There are enough restaurants in Skala to last out a week... Pines is the most popular and more expensive but there is plenty of variety. If you want a lively crowd then end up at the Captain's Bar. Lassi is where the crowds go and not nearly as attractive. Lixouri is not so attractive at all, and isolated by the ferry trip. Have a day out in Assos and forget the nightlife. Hurry though because overdevelopment is starting in many places.

Kefalonia is a very nice place.
I particularly enjoyed it as I am used to travel to the Cyclades which are very dry and Kefalonia had a lot of trees.
From there I recommend you to visit Ithaka and if possible, Lefkada.

I should get a ride to the Peloponesse...

My friends did they following plan (10 days tour). They started from Athens, went through Patras and they planned our first overnight in the city of Pyrgos. They visited the ancient site of Olympia.

From Pyrgos they drove south to the west coast for another overnight stay in the beautiful town of Pylos, with a quiet fishing village, archaeological sites, and nice beaches. From Pylos they made short trips to see the castle of Methoni, and the town of Koroni.

After Koroni they journied for about four hours over the beautiful mountains of Mani, traversing through some spectacular landscapes and villages, before we reached our resting stop in Limenio.

A long drive from Mani took them through the fishing village of Gytheio, to beautiful Monemvasia and after a brief stop they headed for the island of Elafonisos where we found some of the best beaches in Greece.

For the end of the trip they had scheduled two days in the resort town of Tolo near Nauplion. They could relax and visit the nearby ancient sites of Mycenae and Epidaurus.

I am thinking of doing it next september...

An for that of course they rented a car from Athens airport. They company was http://www.rentacareasy.gr/ They were very pleased with their service and they got a very good price!

...... Nidri in Lefkas is perfect for you. We have been there several times. (we have been to loads of the islands and been going to Greece a couple of times a year for over 10 years)

Most of the nightlife takes place around the harbour and there are plenty or Taverna's to choose from, and few bars but nothing major. The Island is fairly new to tourism and Nidri is very village like.

There are really perfect beaches on the west coast you can hire a car or they do boat trips from the harbour.

The south of the island is big for watersports and a lot of professional sailors/wind-surfers train there.

you can also rent little dinghy motor boats and can go off and find your own beach for the day.

It is ideal. In fact maybe i will go back this year........
