Grecotel Pella Beach

I'm staying at this hotel at the end of May, having heard the travel agent enthuse about the hotel. What I really want to know is what the hotel facilities are like and also any recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity, really looking for the non-touristy types of places that serve typical Greek dishes.

Hi anniea I have stayed in Hanioti , Halkidiki for my hols three times and maybe this year too, not booked yet looking for a late deal as usual.
Hanioti is very low key its mostly centre around a main small square with bars and restaurants. No clubs or Mc Donalds/Burker King etc, just plenty of Italians, Greek restaurants etc .
We have always found the Gusto Italian restaurant in the main square to be a very good place and it can work out very cheap to eat there and the quality and service is good too. There is also the Tropicana restaurant where I love the Stuffed Peppers and my other half says they do the best steaks. Stones Cafe is good for breakfast as is the Amethystos too, both of these are a stone throw away from your hotel.
There is a good number of restaurants in town , in fact we still havent been to all of them in three years because you tend to go to the favourites again.
There is a bar called Ammudes which is just outside your hotel, which I have heard good things about but not visited yet as we tend to visit one calles adpos in the square.
The Lesse , The Garden and the Kassandra Rooftop are supposed to be good too but havent got to try them yet, oh and one called Erodius but that didnt open until our last day there last year which was also bbq night at hotel so didnt get to try it.
If you fancy a change there is also a jacket potato place called the Hot Goblin, they do enourmous jacket spuds with whatever filling and English brekkie (if thats your cup of tea?) and baguettes for flights home.
Im sure you will have a great time trying them all out.

Thanks for that will definitely try some of the recommended places. Rather pleased that MacDonalds and Burger King have not reached Hanioti yet.

You will love it there, the staff are very friendly and there are some nice touches. Fresh fruit and bottle of wine in your room, the meals are good all buffet so you have plenty of choice.

The centre of Hanioti is just about a 5 minute walk away, lots of cafes and shops.

I had a lovely time and as it was my birthday on 1st June there was a cake in my room and a card. There are activities every day from aqua aerobics to volleyball and some beach based activities.

I will almost certainly be going back for more, fantastic

Hi anniea

Thanks for your comments, we have stayed in grecotels before and always found the hotels to be of a high standard and assumed the pella beach would be good too, but you never know! Just a couple of questions please, I've read in other reviews that the rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment, not that you spend much time in your room, but could you let me know what you thought, also was there any outside eating areas, we like to be able to eat outside if poss.

Thanks again

The room I had was fine, the decor what I noticed of it was okay perhaps in need of a bit of updating, but frankly I spent that much time out and about wasn't really an issue.

One thing you may want to bear in mind is that there are no exchange facilities at the hotel and if you want to get any cash for small incidentals you would be best served by either taking money out of the cash machine near to where the taxis are situated.

There are loads of eating places in Hanioti, one I would recommend was in the main square by the fountains, I had a salad there and it was only about 4 euros for a large dish of salad with fresh olives and feta cheese.

Although the food at the hotel is okay there are not many typically Greek dishes, so they could perhaps try a few more dishes.

Hi anniea did you try the Tropicana and The Gusto Italian Restaurant both in the square? I love both of them.

I did try the Tropicana, one of my favourite haunts apart from the pool
