kitnakaboodle,
Take a look at( Petition )on this site and also consider your local newspaper seems to me quite a few have been in the papers recently regarding bad holidays.bad publicity is not what these companys want so let them have it and let every body know. These firms will be going bust if everyone went to the papers to expose them.My family had a few holidays with Haven years ago and I must admit we enjoyed them but they seem to have gone down hill. its down to the staff who run these parks.

Mugged - thanks for that, I will certainly take a look. I have actually just printed off more copies of the photos I took as my next step was going to be the newspapers. I am fed up with big companies thinking they can walk all over us. I was lucky that I was in a position to be able to come home again, some people don't have that choice. I have actually heard of quite a few stories from this year so I have asked people to get in touch with me. I think it has to be down to bad management and staff.

hi, sorry to hear that your experience was so bad at the holiday park at berwick, we have been owners there for many years, and we let our vans out via direct holiday homes, our standards are very high and so far have not yielded complaints, but if they did they would be dealt with immediatly, we take customer satisfaction very seriously, i hope the ecperience of the fleet hire vans hasnt put you off revisisting one of the most unspoilt tourist areas in the north, if you ever want to revisit, even out of season contact me via the holiday website.

Hi Vanlady, after speaking to so many people and reading things the general consensus seems to be that you are better hiring a caravan privately and not through Haven. I love the area of Berwick and actually tried to get bed and breakfast but unfortunately because of the size of our party and because it was the last week of English school holidays everywhere was fully booked. I picked Berwick because I love the town and area and it was also not too far for my mum and the children to travel. We have holidayed in caravans for years and I have never come across anything like this or been treated so abysmally by a company.

It is time that all these big companys ie. Park Resorts, Haven etc., came up to the 21st century. Most organisations now provide internal inspectors. Their sole job is to inspect health, hygiene and general standards which also includes customer service skills. The report provided is used as a management tool to decide on the effective running of the sites and if not steps are taken immediately. eg. although not holiday parks, Supermarkets provide mystery shoppers who travel round the country reporting on the quality of the product/service received. Nowadays people going on holiday expect and demand that everything will be of a high standard. This David Bellamy award which holiday parks all seem to be using towards a standard for excellence is a joke. As previously mentioned in this forum, trees flowers shrubs and signs naming different varieties of animal life etc does not unfortunately improve the facilities or the service on offer at the park. Unless some sort of internal regularity is available there will never be any improvements and unfortunately the future of all these parks appears to be bleak.

It seems that "Haven Holidays" (see page 1) who posted a reply on 23/11/07 must be too busy to reply again to this board!!

I actually got a letter from Haven telling me that my money would be refunded which was very nice of them, however, they did try to say that the caravan had been missed off the cleaning schedule which I know was not true because we spoke to the cleaner who had been in our caravan and thrown out the duvets because of the state of them!!! And anyway it was not all about the cleanliness, it was also the sad state of repair the caravan was in. I will be writing back to them also about the Haven rep at Berwick Holiday Park. She told me that she worked for Haven and was nothing to do with Berwick Holiday Park but now that I want to make an official complaint about her attitude to me on the phone and then barring me and my family from all Haven sites, I have to write to the Manager at Berwick Holiday Park!!!! Mind you, don't think I am barred because my letter also says they look forward to me holidaying with them again!!! Not very likely!!!!

Hi
we have just returned from the holiday from hell in haven somerset.
we could only stomach 3 days and when our tents were broken into and ransacked on the third night we decided enough was enough.
i traveled 200 miles to spend what i thought would be a relaxing week sight seeing only to be confronted with Rats running through the tents on the touring sight, men showering with women because their showers were broken and my husband having to paddle through urine in the mens toilets at the club house!
we had a 2 year old with us and were not even offered alternate accomodation following our break in.
when we spoke to the manager on site we were offered a credit note however we have since been informed that as we had stayed for most of our holiday [a total of three days out of seven] why should they offer us a refund?
i have spoken to the Guest relations dept and have been asked to put my complaint in writing...........................watch this space!!
Butlins here we come!!
