Excursions to Cairo and Luxor

I'm going to Hurghada next summer and want to visit Cairo and Luxor while we are over. Does anyone know of a reputable company that does the excursions they could recommend? I've gathered it's pretty easy to get ripped off!

Your best bet is ,if you are going with a tour operator.
We went to sharm el sheikh and flew to Cairo with Thomas cook on a trip and was well worth the money.

Check out the tips for 1st timers thread on the Sharm forum, at the top; there is advice there about how to book Cairo trip. In addition t what is written on that, Longwoods are very good & have a website; they also have an office in Na'ama Bay, next to Jolie Ville Resort & Casino, upper floor, shopping mall 8.

Oops! Sorry, just realised you're going to be in Hurghada!
The info on the Sharm tips thread may still be useful re: Egyptair tho & Longwoods will probably still be somewhere in Hurghada. They may even have a rep at your hotel. You don't have to be thru them to use them for trips.
The tips on the Sharm thread may also be useful for other bits of general info.

Up to date visa prices are on the tips thread; if you give over £10 sterling to the dollar booth, expect change in local currency. The reps desk will charge at least £11. You can pay at the dollar booths & it will be $15.
