During the winter months the Icmeler market was changed from a Wednesday to a Thursday.
As the Marmaris market is held on a Thursday also, stall holders were not prepared to give up their pitch in Marmaris to come along to Icmeler and many people were disappointed to learn that the market had virtually disappeared, only selling fruit and veg.
The good news is that the market has been changed back to a Wednesday and although last week there were only a few fruit and veg stalls, this week it should be back to normal.
So if you are coming out to Icmeler and have heard that the market no longer exists, it does. Now on a Wednesday as normal.
All the women are saying YES BRILLIANT GREAT!! Sorry for the men, you know we love to shop!

Hi Carol,
I have noticed on many different sites that people are complaining on the prices have gone up considerable compared to last year ? Could you shed some light on this just how much have things gone up ? Obviously I know on it depends on where you eat, drink and which trips to go on, a little bit of a guide would be helpful for everyone.

Hi kez,
I have just come back from Icmeler, prices are a little up on last year but that is to be expected.
Breakfasts 1 to 2.50
portion of chips 3.5ytl
Beans on toast 3.50ytl
5lts of bottled water 2ytl
sliced bread 2.5ytl
Large milk long lasting 2.5ytl
Large beers @3ytl up to 5ytl at the bigger bars.
large coke about the same as beer.
Cocktails 6.5ytl buy one get one free to 7ytl for one.
meals, chicken 12.5ytl with trimmings
steaks, 15ytl to 20 ytl for peppered steak again with veg chips etc
Leg of lamb 20ytl to 25ytl per person.
Getting 246ytl to the pound at the begining of the hols but only 241ytl at the end.
Market prices are holding firm but a good buy is always the fruit and veg.
These prices are not Tansas prices but local market and bar prices.

Re: Icmeler Market
Icmeler is now undoubtedly one of the UK's top destinations, which is probably why prices have been put up a bit. Mind you, most restaurant owners make very little profit during the season, so I don't begrudge them making a bit more.
I do think its a bit sad that virtually all the prices you mention are for English food, did you not try all the authentic local dishes whilst you were in Icmeler?

Afraid not, my digestive system after 65 years is accustomed to my own way off eating but I have no objection to anyone else trying the excellant Turkish cuisine, and if anyone has the prices maybe they could also reply to this post thus expanding all our knowledge of Turkish prices.
Even if able I still dont think I could have tried all the local dishes, did try the strawberries though.

Re: Icmeler Market
The Turkish Lira is now much stronger than it used to be and the exchange rate for sterling is not as it used to be. e.g. each year getting almost double the amont of lira than the year before. The exchange rate has not changed that much in the last three years and this is why guests are noticing a rise in prices.
Rents are very expensive in Icmeler and this has an effect also on prices.
However, tours are about the same price with only a few rises and are still great value for money!
Have a great holiday!
