Petra Mare Hotel - Lerapetra, Crete

Hi,

I am just about to spend 2 weeks at the Hotel Petra Mare in Lerapetra (Southern Crete) and I have just been told that the beaches are not sand but shingle beaches. The color of the sand (if any) would be grey/black. Has anyone been, is it as bad as I think it may be?

Although the shingle beach is mentioned, the colour isn't. On the plus side all the reviews seem fairly positive!:thumleft:
