| Hi We are going on a 16 night Transatlantic cruise on the Island star in March 09, with us being on the ship for so long I do not want to get the cabin wrong. We have booked a STANDARD balcony cabin on Golden deck. Can anybody tell me what these cabins are like and if you think it would be worth me upgrading to a Delux balcony. Thanks in advance

Hi Joss,
I usually make some reply in the cruise forum, but for one reason or other yet to do an Island line cruise, and thought maybe someone else would know, and reply.
However done a few TransAtlantic crossings and you do spend more time in the cabin, also you really should book this best you can afford.
If you have a Island Star brochure then cabin sizes are shown.
For most cruise lines there is not much difference between, standard, superior or Mini-suites with balconies, that applies to the price as well as Balcony & cabin size. just position on the ship.
You will be travelling West to East, so right hand side for morning sun, left for afternoon sun.
These crossing are not so popular as other cruises but that gives you bags more room on the open sun decks than normal.
Try for any cabin as close to the middle and as high as you can, for best choice.
In the meantime I will try a few contacts to see if I can find out more about this for you. So just pop in during the next couple of weeks and I'll put a 'Sticky' on this post if I find anything out.
Gee that was long winded, now need a cup of tea to ease my dry throat.

| Tenpin, thank you for your reply, the only other cruise I have been on was for 7 days on the carribbean princes in April of this year we had a mini on Emerald deck and I could have stayed in that cabin for 16 nights but I can not find a picture of a standard balcony cabin on the Island star anywhere

Hello Again Joss,
Just taken a look at Island Star web-site, cabins are shown, but size in footage are not. They certainly are not as big as Princess.
Copy & paste this link then click on Island Star and cabin links.

| Hi there
I haven't stayed in a standard balcony, but have stayed in a standard outside without balcony on a number of occasions on one week cruises, as well as a Premier and a Deluxe balcony. They are all of quite generous proportions but it is quite nice to have a bit of your own outside space when on for 2 weeks. If you can afford a deluxe and one is still available, then these are very spacious with a small settee and 2 arm chairs.
Hope that helps
