Hi

I want to take my husband on an "informal cruise" for his 50th birthday within the next month, please can you provide your opinions and experiences as to which is the nicer cruise line.

We have been on informal cruising before but not with either of the above, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jude

My Profile
Hi Jude

Ive ben on Island Escape,Island Star & Ocean Village 2 all of these are easy, casual cruises, each one has its own plus points I.Esc has the smallest cabins biggest on OV2, food is much more available at all times on Island Cruises, trips are exactly the same as are drink prices. If i was choosing now either OV2 or Island Star depending on where you want to visit.

Enjoy Carol

Hi Ive read hundreds of reviews and Island Star hardly ever gets a bad review. Been on Ocean Village1, three times and Island escape once. If its relaxed atmosphere good company and flexible dining you are after then all would do ie Ocean or Island. Most cruises are what you make them and if you love meeting people but dont want to be "stuck with the same company" at formal sit downs. then these are great for you. Ps We have been on MCS Cruise , no atmosphere. Thomson are too formal (seating arrangements are fixed!) and generaly they run "older ships" but some like this. Ive booked Island Star for me and the wife for 6th sept for two weeks. Hope that helps . Ocean Village 2 is the one to go for if you like the newest cabins etc , but all the three are not far behind in facilites.TB

Hi Jude

I have been on the island star probably 6 times....very casual and informal with some fairly good itineraries and the price is right. folks seem to be very friendly whether passengers or crew! I've heard comments on the other cruise line you mentioned and they were all pretty negative. I actually heard the comments from folks who now cruise only on the island star!

Enjoy your cruise
