| Thats a shame cos there is so much to see. My best bet is when you get off ship ask for a price of taxi to take you to sugar loaf mountain and Christ Reedema, he took us to both in a day and he waited for us at each stop evn while we went for a drink. Then he took us back to our hotel which was in Rio beach front I think it cost us around £38, but we shared with another couple. If you go with the ship it cost you a lot more.
You get quite a few hours in each port cant remeber how many really. We mainly did our own thing in the ports either shopping site seeing or just for a drink.
You also get a certificate off the ship captain for passing through the equator. Its great experience

| Rio was my favorite, they were all good really , even oif their wasnt much to see the experience of watching the locals and the beggers astonish you. You go on the sky lift to Sugar loaf its amazing you dont realise how high it is. But as the lift is a large one that accomodes alot of bodies it was OK
So when I went to Madeira I thought I was clever and went on there sky lift to the top of the mountain and I was Petrified as its only a small cable car for 4 people I was sh--------- myself but glad I did it.

| We took american dollers, but some places they took anything I bought some great sandles in Rio and they took English. Shoes are a good buy, Some of the shops asked for english money and some even took euro. WE tried to keep our Euro for when we were in Europe so mostley used the doller and £££.

Like you we are going to Brazil in Nov, and are also interested in what the excertions are like as there is very little info on the internet even last years excertions are not shown. I also understand that the escape has just had a refurbishment. Lets hope it is as impressive as the last ship we sailed on 2yrs ago had just had a refurbishment. we normally sail from UK, this is the first fly/sail we have done. Lets hope it is OK as this ties in with a special occassion.

| Jamie -- Our age group is early retirement we could meet up we are on golden deck
Sam 1258 -- I have had it on good authority from someone at Island Cruises themselves back in January when I spoke to them that at that time the ship was undergoing a refurbishment. What they have done to it I don't know. Especially as you can't find any info about it It does make you very uneasy when you hear many people say that the ship was tired and in need of TLC, I hope that Island Cruises are true to their word. I have seen photos of the interior of a cabin it did look a bit drab and dated especially the curtaining area.
