Hi, I'm planning to go to Italy at the beginning of March for skiing for 3-4 days.
Can you recommend me any good ski resorts and hotel accomodation.
Many thanks.

Cervinia in Italy is excellent. It's high, so good snow, and you can ski in to Zermatt in Switzerland and back.

hi ulenka, just back from 4th italian holiday, sestriere (milky way) italy absolutely fabulous if your a committed skier. extensive ski area includes sauze sansicario claviere casana and the area pass also includes a day in montgenevre france (but get there early to get the most of your day pass). fab wide runs get you out of trouble when needed also amazing off piste skiing through trees. any hotel half board 3 star and above will be very comfortable.
im looking for late booking to go again in march.
good luck

Agree with Cervinia, good ski runs guaranteed snow as high area but whatever you do, don't stay at Petit Palais Hotel run by Crystal. noisy and uphill walk. try to stay at hotel Excelsior Planet, Punta Maquignaz or hotel Grivola, which is quite centre and near the slope. Resort is quite expensive, beer at 5$ or more.
Sestriere, part of milky way, quite large area, stayed at Hotel Du Col (Thomsons), offers excellent food and ski back to the back.
Arraba, Dolomites, stayed at hotel Portavescovo (thro Neilson), again only few minutes walk to ski lift, best memorable food and entertainment is first class. however, Arabba although very pretty, not suitable for beginners.
Livigno, high resort, stayed at Hotel Le Alpi, small hotel, but food was excellent, about 50m from slope. the drawback is transfer about 3.5 hrs, but the cheapest place to shop in Italy as it is duty free.
Passo Tonale, stayed at Hotel Dolomiti. Great food and near to ski lift.
We've been to other resorts in Italy, the above that I could select as worth going. We just love Italy as the people are friendly and they serve excellent food, apart from our last trip to Cervinia last month, which is a bit disappointing but the snow made up for it!

Hi Ulenka,
I agree with the other guys, having skied between 1 & 3 times a season since '96, and at least one of those each season in Italy.
Obviously in early march the higher the better, Livigno has been good for me as a late trip, but don't know about a short break (most packages are for 7 nights).
I have found a company called 'flexible breaks.com' extremely good, check out their website. In fact i am staying with them 27th Feb - 4th Mar, in Sauze D'oulx.
They also have accom. in Meribel, France (not tried that one yet), & Montgenevre (France, literally the other side of the mountain to Sauze). They offer free transfers off certain Ryanair flights from Turin.
'Ski Welt' area of Austria, near Kitzbuhl, is excellent but not skied there later than early Feb. was there in January of this year and it was great, especially 'Westendorf' ski area.
Wherever you end up, have a great time........'ski on'!

Canazei in Italy is really great for families. Quite relaxed, great scenery and slopes are not too busy.
