Hiya, we got a bus from Treviso Airport (buy ticket inside terminal, I think it was called Terravision) to the waterbus terminus. There, we got a 3day pass to use on the waterbuses. This is a good way of crusing the whole length of the canal and much cheaper than buying the tours on offer.
We stayed on the Lido, so the pass got us across to St Marks etc. everyday without worrying about finding change all the time.
Hope this helps, have a lovely time!

eating out tends to be quite expensive. i think we paid about 80 euros for a 3 course meal and that was sharing starter and dessert!!!

we paid 13 euros at one bar for a beer and a glass of wine, as the bars tend to only sell wine by the bottle-in different sizes though.

beautiful place but be aware that you will need sufficient spending money! I will be going back again and taking lots more with me!!

Gondola rides are between 60-100 euros and we missed out as we didnt have enough with us so keep some aside as you have to experience it!!!

Venice has a mix of prices for places to eat - sounds obvious, I know.
We have been to Venice a number of times and eaten at a fair few places. the most expensive we tried was the marvellous Harry's Bar -which is more Euro than you can shake a gondola pole at, but on the Lido in particular, there were many decent value places to eat - some so good we went back.

St Mark's square and surrounding area is expensive, but a little further away from St Marks and the Grand Canal, the restaurants' prices do drop. The Lido, as I mentioned, is pretty good on price/quality.

If you go to a pizzeria-style place it will be cheaper than a trattoria and they in turn are cheaper than ristorante on the whole. there are good places to take-away snacks and the area past the Rialto is cheaper than the side of St Marks on average.

Venice is not cheap, but if you live near London, it doesn't seem as bad as it would do otherwise.

The more you're ready to spend the money, the better food you'll get to eat up. So be prepared to spend some money out there. But you can also afford cheap & best restaurants when you don't want to go hi-fi.
