Two weeks May/June Veneto region

Hi all,
We are a family of four (children 2 and 4) looking to spend 2 weeks in the Veneto area. We are thinking of spending 10 days on the coast somewhere and then 4 days in Venice. We will be flying to Venice and will probably not be hiring a car. Not sure whether to go to a holiday park or get a self catering apartment/house/villa. Have read the parks can be noisy until the early hours.

Which is the most picturesque coastal area - east or south of venice?
Which are the most interesting towns (excluding Venice).

Finding the sheer number of different parks and apartments available overwhelming and thought I'd seek out help from those with previous experience.

We've found an apartment for the Venice stay so are really looking for
any advice or recommendations for most interesting locations and towns, beaches or parks.
