Hi, i was in Jamaica last year at Starfish Trelawny and my girlfriend is Vegetarian, She got on fairly well in the hotel there was always something to eat. The people are brilliant but be prepared to be hassled to buy something constantly. Our hotel was in the middle of nowhere so we didn't really go out except on organised tours but i would be a bit more wary of going out on your own. The Bob Marley Mauesoleum and Swimming with Dolphins were great but the unexpected highlight was swimming in the luminous lagoon near Falmouth. As i said the vegetarian food at the hotel was fine out and about there wasn't as much choice at the roadside'****** Stall's' you might have to stick to 'Rice & Pea's' and Festival bread generallly you should be fine (although most Jamaican foods have an element of spice to them).
Its a great place and the people are brilliant, make sure you haggle and drink plenty Red Stripe. At the airport the tax is about 20 (payable in airport)and as soon as you get into the arrivals hall there will be a lot of guys in official uniform taking your luggage and carrying it to you transfer coach, Please be aware these guys do not work for the airport and are looking for small payment for doing so. I must stress that these guys are no problem at all although you can say no if you wish.

Oh and we took a mix of Jamaican and U.S Dollars but next time i go (and i will be) i will just take U.S Dollars as it is easier to work out and everywhere takes them.

Enjoy

Hi Laura, spent 2 weeks there last July. Absolutely fantastic! Highlights Ricks Cafe, you have to swim there. Dunns River (my six year old climbed them) and the people were lovely. Even hired a car for a few days, no problems driving.(woman driver too). My sister in law came with us and she is a veggie, she ate loads of fish.(presume you eat fish)Swap my week in Turkey next week for yours ?, oh well worth a try!
Have a brill time and just chill. Jackie
