Hi,
I am worried about getting mosquito bites whilst holidaying in Jamaicia in July this year. I have known people to return with lots of bits, which turn to scabs and then scar - I an really worried about this.
Can anyone reccommend anything to ensure that me and my party will not be bitten red raw??

I have used Boots mosquito wipes onholiday in Turkey where I am normally used as for a mosquito feeding frenzy. I managed to escape with no bites on my last two holidays there. So I took Tropical strength with us to Jamaica and they worked, despite my husband jumping around the room one night killing them--26 altogether.
We hung the used wipes over the top of the headboard at night and had quite a colllection after a fortnight.

Avoid perfume. Like cloudy im always bitten to hell but i avoid wearing sweet smelling things as the mozzies love it!
They hate anything citrus so when i was out in turkey i stocked up on like a lemon cologne spray that was cheap and i douse myself in that. In our pound shop they sell mosquito keyrings which throw out a very high pitched sound thats hard for us to hear but extremely annoying for them, and they work a treat too.

Hi Holiday Lover
We are going to Cuba in July this year and have been warned about it being "mozzy heaven". A friend who is just back from the Dom Rep says that Avon's "Skin So Soft" range is very good for keeping the
mozzies away. Aparently there is something in it which they hate !
I have also heard about taking odourless Garlic tablets everyday for a month before you travel and during your holiday.
Worth a try !!

Jungle Gel is very good, you can buy it from Boots the Chemist.
Garlic also keeps the mossies away.

Hi, I too am a sufferer of mozzy bites, I get a bad reaction, however last three holidays not one bite, try these, buy a mosquito repeller, it runs on batteries and is the size of a key ring, it emits a sound that they dont like, you can buy off flights, not sure where els, wear it when you go out at night, dont use scented products ie perfume, body lotion, try unperfumed products, wear neutral colours, take vitamin B1 for as long as you can before you travel (i take all the time now) or brewers yeast tablets, use boots tropical strength spray, and when you go out at night light a citronell candle, available in most supermarkets abroad, good luck

Hi. As amber says Avon skin so soft is good at detering the mozzies but it has to be the original Woodland Fresh which is in the green labelling. I always use a repellant containing at least 50% deet. Just returned from Jamaica and had no bites at all.
