Rose Hall Resort and Country Club Hotel
I stayed here in Aug 1997 and Dec 2006. The water park is great and if you have young kids they will love it and stay out all day. The hotel is a bit dated now, it hadn't changed much from our first visit, BUT it was in the process of being renovated and is due to be ready end Nov 2007. I saw some pics of the new rooms and they look good.
The food was good on both occasions that I stayed, although there is a lack of choice during the day, over 2 weeks it would get boring. The buffet is a good choice if you have kids as they can choose what they want. Try the other restaurants as a one off special treat sometime during your stay.
The entertainment is good during the peak season and the Americans will show the Brits how to enjoy themselves, but be warned the music ends early at 10pm just when you are ready to really enjoy! There is a disco afterwards but always full of kids, so after 10pm its either the bar or bed.
The beach and grounds are excellent and there are plenty activities during the day. Treat the staff nice, talk to them and be friendly, and tipping them makes things run smoothly. I enjoyed both my stays there which was 6 days each time.
The roads are way better now having been done up for the Cricket World Cup. Getting to Negril, Trelawny or Ocho Rios is no longer a problem from Montego Bay airport. Doing the tours is a must, go to Dunns River Falls, or YS Falls, Dolphin Cove, Ricks Cafe, Margaritaville (Mo Bay), the new Water Park in Negril. Have fun!!
