| most of the roads in kos are tarmac, the main road from one end to the other is all tarmac/single/dual carriageway. Hire a 4x4 cos the the other roads are not really suitable for sight seeing, also make sure u have tyre/windscreen/sump damage insurance. DO NOT try to turn left into garages on the other side of the road cos the cops dont like it, also u have to carry your license and passport at all times while driving, apart from that its a brill little island. Have a good one. :D :occasion1
ps: i'm goin back in august 05

| Re; Driving in Kos. We stayed in Kardamena and hired a open top jeep. It was fantastic, the roads are moderately good. However, beware of straying off the main routes, you can quickly find yourselves going up a winding mountain and unable to turn around. There's no hedge or anything to stop you from going over the edge. It's scary the drops you see. My advice...keep to your map and go from resort to resort referring to the map you're given. Try bubble beach the sea is fantastic, you can walk out half a mile and it's still up to your knees. Petrol's cheap too.
