Trying Sofitel Karnak on The Nile...hope to see a bit of the history of the country as well as being able to relax.

Sofitel Karnak is situated outside the main town and you can have a peaceful relaxing time by the pool and in the grounds, away form the hustle and bustle of the town.
If you intend to book guided tours then do it through a local agent and not your tour rep, it should be much cheaper. The locals need the money mor than the "Big Companies" do!! There are recommendations on other travel forums for agents and guides, www.tripadvisor.com is one of the biggest. Several local agents have offices opposite the Nile close to the Old Winter Palace hotel. Also if you are booking several tours be prepared to haggle a little for some discount.
Hope that helps.
