Weather in July - Maldives & Sri Lanka
I went to the Maldives last July, which is in the rainy season (June-August) and although it did rain very heavily some days it was still very warm and there was lovely sun inbetween downpours, except for one day when it rained constantly. It's not a cheap destination especially for drinks such as wine and cocktails. (about $30 for bottle of wine) The food was really good there, but again I wouldn't say cheap! I stayed at Kurumba which has a website with some prices of food on their sample menus.

Weather in July - Maldives & Sri Lanka
We had two weeks in Kalutara, Sri Lanka, last July and the weather wasn't too bad. We had a few heavy showers, but they only lasted 10-20 minutes and within 15 minutes of them ending everything was dry. The temperature during the day was up in the high 20's although it was quite breezy some days which made it feel a few degrees cooler. The sea was quite rough too, with the locals saying that was normal for the early part of the rainy season.
Once we got away from the hotel things were pretty cheap - we ate for around 5 for two of us, including drinks. Other bargains were clothes (my better half had some skirts made for under 5 each) and jewellery. The tour company charged a lot for trips out - things like the Elephant Orphanage; we found one of the locals who organised the same trip (plus more) for about a quarter of the holiday co.'s price.
Hope this helps.

I want to go to Sri Lanka in july also! I would love to swim and snorkle so is this a good time to go? I'm restricted to the time I holiday but would be gutted to find that the sea is a no go area?

Weather in July - Maldives & Sri Lanka
Hi
I am just about to book a honeymoon and was desperate to do the Maldives. There are mixed reports on what the weather is like and how bad or good the rain and storms are. I would be staying in North Male Attoll and wanted to find out whether it was worth the risk to go at that time of year or maybe to look at somewhere else?!
Any advice would be much appreciated!
thanks
