| I suppose this is a typical newbie question. We've been to the Med several times including Spain, but never Majorca. We're looking for a place to go to in September. I suppose the most important thing to say is that I'm disabled. I'm an amputee who bumbles around on a pegleg, but can't walk far or fast and doesn't like hills much.
We're looking for a location which is not full of young beery Brits getting bladdered until 4.00 a.m. Maybe a place for boring old farts, maybe expats, maybe locals. A place where there are nice Spanish restaurants, a hotel where I can swim, where we can explore by bus or taxi. In other words a chill out holiday.
If you have any suggestions I'd be grateful.
Regards & Thanks
Falstaff

| Alcudia is very nice, also Magaluf. In september most of the 'young beery brits' will be flying home and the magaluf calms down before a few of places close for winter.

| The cost of a holiday these days cost so much and when you have had a bad time it feels like you have thrown your money away.Thats how i feel anyway.Hopefully your next holiday will be much better.

| For future reference, Cala Bona is a fantastice place for the less mobile, the resort is completely flat with a recently built promenade linking it with the next resort, Cala Millor.
In some hotels (ie Hotel Cala Bona) you can prebook mobilty scooters etc.

| Hi Folks
I have a 'Mallorca Newbie' Question too!
I want to take my family to Mallorca 16-26 Oct but I can't decide between the following resorts : Fornalutx, Soller, Pollensa, Alcudia and Ca'n Picafort. I intend renting a villa with pool.
We would like privacy and a quiet area to stay in but want to be able to walk home after sampling the local grape juice of an evening!!!
We will be hiring a car.
All suggestions welcomed - Thanks.

| Ooops! Me again!
Forgot to add ... is the weather very different between the North and South of the Island? Also, realistically, how much rain can we expect in Oct and would you say that a heated pool would be a necessity?
Thanks, Mrsmch x

| Try Flora Apartments in Puerto Pollensa as they are close to town but not too close, next to the sqaure where there are typical spanish restaurants - the only place I have been where there is still a spanish feel to a resort - DO NOT go to Alcudia, used to live there - hell hole, all british bars and louts! Hope this helps

| Thanks for that advice - especially the bit about Alcudia - nothing I have read so far says that! Will scrub it from my list immediately!

| hi there i have been to majorca 16 years running and the best place by far is cala bona.. alcudia is very lively. palma nova and magaluf are for 18 year olds so very lively but cala bona is more relaxed and if you want lively then cala millor is only a 2 minute taxi ride away. and for restaurants... there are so many. ITS LOVELY!!!. the hotel atolon is great we stayed there last april. and the hotel catalonia consul in august . hope you enjoy.

| We love Majorca and have been many times. Stayed near Sa Pobla which is within driving distance of Alcudia and Pollenca. We liked being able to go there to eat, shop etc but stay well away. October can be quite cool, you definately need a jumper in evenings, and everything shuts down at end of the month so many tourist shops are low in stock, but a good place for young and old.
