| Wow,just got back from a 5 day break in majorca, and jesus the euro/gbp has certainly altered my view on going back again.
Is it me,or is everything way too expensive?
some average bars were charging 4 euros per pint, and thats like £3.50 for local beer
Ice creams where like £2+ for your average cornetto
basic british meals like burger/chips pie chips were like £7 each
you can get things cheaper, but in the 5 days i travelled to many parts of the island and the prices were pretty much the same.
The exchange rate,if it doesnt rise in our favour will put a lot of visitors off from going there, and from speaking to a few local bar owners, they all feared the same thing.
I have never understood the way it works, and how come our pound is so low compared to the rest of europe
and would be interested to know what the average hourly pay is in euro in spain
Or are the spainish just taking us for a ride?

| Harry, I've no doubt you are right, my dauhgter, son in law and children went to tenerife and said it was very expensive.
But, in Benidorm the prices are still very cheap. Most bars away from the promenade ones sell a pint of San Miguel for 1.50 Euros. Meals are dirt cheap too.
Before we left home, the Coop were giving 118 to the pound. We got 126 in the indoor market in Benidorm.
I guess there's more competion there, the islands have always been more expensive than the Spanish mainland.

| The value of the £ against the Euro has alot to do with it, last year you could get 160 Euro to the £.
Although the last time we went to Spain we did notice a real price hike when the Euro came in, prices doubled overnight in some places . :(

| If anyone fancied a cheap holiday to Spain, Benidorm is the resort to go. As stated, maybe because there's more competition, the prices are still low. The islands will cost more of course.
If you book all inclusive, that's ok if you can drink the beer they serve, personally I don't like esrtella, so when we went all inclusive I had to drink outside the hotel every night.
