My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Malta next September but we have no idea where to go. We want to stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel in a quiet resort. Does anyone know of any good hotels? we're looking for a holiday which includes history and culture, no night clubs please!

I went to Malta last year and stayed at the Melliha Bay Hotel.
It's at the north of the island in a nice quiet and tranquil area.
Totally recommend it, lovely coves to swim in, a beach about 200 metres from the hotel.
Buses run regularly to Valetta and provides a great base for travelling around and basically relaxing.

the best place for you is the beautiful island of Gozo, Malta's sister island. In September you can get a nice self-catering villa/farmhouse with private pool for a good price, and i think it will be more romantic than a hotel! i ve been travelling to Malta since i was a toddler, and now am visiting with my hubby! We were there last Nov/Dec, going off again in Feb and hopefully again in summer, but then with my numerous family!! We normally use self-catering farmhouses, provided to us by gozobreak.com who are very nice people who always do their best to please their customers. I recommend you send them and e-mail and try to negotitate a price with them for your holiday....(suggestion...!) The good thing is that they are the owners and therefore we save good money from commissios! I ve been in all their famhousese and the most romantic one is definately Tal-Barun. Otherwise you can choose to go for a Hotel, and there are quite some hotels like kempinski, grand, and calypso in the area! Gozo is quite nice, people are friendly and most of them english speaking. You can get more information about Gozo by visiting www.gozo.gov.mt, the minisrty from Gozo site! We really like the beaches, the serenity, the cosyness and the uniqueness of the island. Definately worth to visit!!
