I'm interested in buying a smallish holiday home in the Balerics - probaby Mallorca or Menorca. I've been to Son Bou many years ago and the other islands a few times.
Can you recommend any good and bad areas to buy/not buy in ? It will be an apartment, or house would be lovely, but budget is probably 150 or 200,000 euros
Any advice greatly received
Chris

Hoping to go to Menorca in a couple of weeks on a last minute hol for a week. 6 adults and 1 ten month baby. Any opinions on suitable resort please. We like marinas and places to people watch, but also to bear in mind, two of the adults are big competitive kids that get bored easy so need something to entertains them too!

I would say Cal'n Bosch it has a small marina plenty of restaurants, bars ,gorgeous beach etc.We have stayed at S'Algar every time we have been which is twenty plus times but if the family of kids and grandkids wanted to go then it would be Cal'n Bosch no problem.

I particularly like Cuitedalla, the old town and the harbour. Nothing nicer than to have an evening meal harbour side.
Great place.
Great place.

I am thinking of taking my mum and sister to Menorca in May.
We are looking for somewhere quiet and unspoilt, but where there are a few bars and restauarants. Have not yet decided whether to take a hotel or villa.
I was wondering about Santo Tomas. Please could you let me know what it is like there, including the size, beach and types of shops/restaurants/bars.
Also any other suggestions of place to stay would be very welcome. A small and friendly place would be great, although I would also be interested in locality for further site seeing.
Thank you for your help

I live in Menorca and the best place for tourism is Cala'n bosch. Many bars, restaurants, shops, two beaches, bus stop,7km for go to town, rent a cars.Is so quietly and great ambient.
I recomend to go " las tapas"Is a bar with tapas (little dishes) and typical spain food.A variety tapas in the menu and drinks (natural ******,milkshakes, juices, ice creams, many more...)

Stay in the quaint little town of Es Castell which is walking distance into the capital, Mahon.
An absolute jewel for eating out and having a drink is Brogans in the centre of town. Make sure you visit at least once. A gorgeous little Irish Pub. Great food

Hi Mike,
That is a real coincidence as I have now booked our holiday and I have booked the Agamenon in Es Castell.
Thank you for your tip on where to eat, as eating and nice wine is very imporatnt to us. We will try it and would also to try some traditional food.
We love Spanish food especially Tapas - can you recommend any where to eat?
How far is it to walk into Es Castell central as I believe that there are nice bars and restaurants there. Mum has some mobility problems and can walk for short distances like 1km - do you know if it is easy to catch taxis?
I am thinking of hiring a car or whether it woulod be reasonable enough to hire a taxi driver to take us around for the whole day - and views on this?
