When I went to Cancun, I took both Mexican and American money. Both currencies are accepted. Probably better to take sterling travellers cheques and covert them out there - and get which ever has the strongest conversion on that day.
Most of the shops/markets have prices in, and accept both, US and Mexican....

Hi, when we went to Mexico, we were all inclusive so only took 1 sterling and it was easier to convert pesos to sterling than to work out dollars to pesos to sterling. We also found changing cash at a bank was better value, we got 20 pesos to the with no commission, so if you are all inclusive, I would take cash. Any large items we bought we used credit cards and when we got our statements we were pleasantly surprised at the rate we were charged and the items didn't cost as much as what I'd worked them out. Hope this helps.

"Hope you have a good hol, where are you staying?" --- Hils
Hi Hils,
I'm staying at the 'Blue Bay Club' (No it's not the raunchy one!!! That's the 'Blue Bay Getaway' which is the sister hotel) in Cancun. The reviews look good apart from a couple on trip advisor, But I don't think I have to worry about a twenty year old complaining about "the people were all older" YAWN . Hope today's problems don't cause us any problems.:shaking:
