Whats Morroco like for beggars/people pestering women
I've been looking at Morrocco for a summer holiday and it looks lovely but after speaking to friends have heard mixed reports. Some say its lovely, some say women get pestered and there are lots of beggars and if you dont give them money they spit at you....is there any truth in this???

i don't remember being spit at but i went with my girlfriend ( tall and blonde) and we had more hassle from people wanting to buy her. and yes there are lots and lots of beggars wanting money from you or want you to buy carpet from them. we were told not to give any money as this will encourage more beggings. the worst are the children, they give you their pitying faces and you just feel bad when you don'y give them any money or food. morocco is a lovely place but the begging and hassling does put a damper on things. there are lots of poor counties are the same with tourists, but in my view morocco is the worst that i've been to.

It's not as bad as some people make out. I have been to Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco (Marrakesh) two women alone and we were fine.
I found the people very friendly and respectful, if people arn't going to accept different cultures then you may as well stay home and do nothing. Be kind to these people instead of looking down on them their lives are hard enough as it is.
A firm and polite "no thank you" works and dont give direct eye contact keep your sunglasses on.
But all in all didn't have a problem, enjoy Morocco and it's people

Happy holidays
