Hi Doug,
Welcome to holidaywatchdog.

Las Vegas to Canyon is expensive,
But you have many choices by coach 15 hours day trip, which should include lunch $160.
Scenic airlines (check out their web site) offers mixed flights to both rims of the canyon last time they charged us $324 which included lunch and helicopter trip down into canyon.
You can also make this trip by train.
By far the cheapest for five of you is to hire a car, even consider an overnight stay but not near the canyon, plenty of motels on way back to Vegas should you become to tired to drive, allow about three hours driving time, or stop off at Hoover Dam for a break.

NOTE
Thanks to Iain for pointing out you said N/falls, not Grand canyon, these are as he said close on three thousand miles away.
