| Hi, its our first time an there are some good answers on here, just a matter of finding them. Alot are on the OV 2 cruise review. We have previously stayed in Tunisia and you can get taxis dirt cheap...remember to haggle. We go 8/7 for two weeks, when do you go?

| My wife and I are also going on Ocean village 2 on 15th July for a week. I also need to know about trips on a DIY because doing the ships trips would cost a fortune. So far I have read that St Raphael can be done on foot? would love to see Florence and Pisa, guess that woud require a ships trip?. Anyone any Ideas?.
Denn
PS, its our pearl wedding anniversary on the day we arrive on ship and the travel agent has sent Ocean Village a memo of this, maybe they will give us a free bottle of bubbly.

| Hi Denn,
We are on the ship the week brfore you.....its only our silver! If you read some of the cruise reviews there are some great tips from people who have done trips under their own steam.
A friend called me last night who travels all over Italy and he assures me the rail service around the ports will get you to most places and on time!
Hope you get your champagne, see you in the bar!

| To Florence / Pisa leave ship and cross over pontoon bridge, turn left towards town. 20 minutes slow walk straight down main road to Livorno bus station. Go to a newsagent and buy a bus ticket BEFORE you get the bus (1.5e each - no charge for kids under 1m tall). Get on a bus to "Livorno Centrale" railway station (approx 12 minute ride). You will know when you arrive at the station because everyone gets off. Go inside building and buy tickets from one of the clerks (who understand simple english). approx 10e return, to Piza.
Trains run direct to Florence (Firenze) and take about 1.5 hrs. Pisa is less than 15 minutes on the same train. Once you get to Pisa station take a Taxi from the rank outside the station to "Torre di Pisa" approx 7e (metered taxi) this will take you to within 100m of the tower.
NB Ocean Village tell you trains can be unpredictable and they will leave you if you are late. This is scare tactics to try and get you to go on one of their trips. Italian Trains are the one of the best in Europe and run back to Livorno at least once an hour.
Have a great time, if you've not already gone!

| We were quoted 80 euros to Portofino! The boats can return too late to reboard so be careful
