| Just a thought BUT we have travelled on OV1 and 2 now and it occured to me - when we got back - when you go ashore you can take the bottle of water from your cabin SO before you get back on board why don't you refill this bottle with gin or vodka? The crew don't check the contents and just see a bottle of water on the xray screen.......maybe this plan would work........do OV read these sites!!!!!!!!

| Cruises are not cheap holidays and (in my opinion) cruisers should not be so cheap as to take alcohol on board disguised as water. Where is the pleasure in opening a plastic bottle of water in the cabin of an evening rather than using the mini bar or getting a drink from one of the bars. I love a drink (or three/four) during an evening but if I feel that I am going over budget I try to do trips on my own or don't buy as many photographs. Taking drink on board disguised is like taking food from the breakfast buffet to do for lunch rather than find a reasonably priced restaurant. By all means cut costs but don't do so in a way that you look cheap. Staff/crew may not notice but your fellow passengers will. It will be looked on the same way as the person who uses the buffet on the last night in order not to give tips to the waiting staff.

| mtek ....... not liking the idea of being called 'cheap'.....it was a tongue in cheek suggestion.....I do know cruises are not cheap - I am not stupid!!!! I also - for your information - don't drink !!!!!! Thought tho, how will fellow passengers know if I am drinking the illegal gains in my cabin?? Hmmmm

| I dont suppose your passengers would know what you drink in your cabin, but the ships crew arent daft, they know what goes on. Sometimes they will scan your bags on boarding and its just a case of who they pick on at that time, you could get away with it, or not!!
Is it really worth it for a bottle of vodca

| i have travelled on several OV ships and found that when taking alcohol on board in the most obvious bottle shapes, even when the glass clinks together when putting it on the xray machine, they don't mind atall!

| I think go for it , basicly they charge silly over the top prices because they know they can & they know people will pay it. Its not like you can pop down asda or tesco when your on a cruise. If i seen you doing this i wouldnt think your " cheap" ! The bars should should look into selling Alcoholic drinks at a better price because its obvs they dont need to charge such silly prices.
I would think clever guy , hes not one to get ripped off.

| Been on OV several times and the guys are usually very relaxed when it comes to going back on board with alcohol. Unless you declare it they hardly ever pull you up to check, just be sensible, dont be obvious about it and don't take the you know what and your ok!!
