| Could anyone tell me if they have been to the Olu deniz resort hotel since the beginning of the season. I have read a few bad reviews on the hotel saying it has been rented to a Russian company and the place isn't the same. We have booked to go again next year which will be our third time and the reviews have got me worried.

| Hi Lukieboy, we too have booked to go on 3rd Oct (repeat visit) & are also VERY worried having read the bad reviews on here. We are contacting Portland about the situation tomorrow as we definitely don't want to this hotel now, it's such a shame because we had a lovely two weeks there last October. Will let you know the outcome.

| I emailed the hotels local agent Fancy Tours and they said the hotel has been rented out to a Turkish company and the food this year will be prepared at Club Sun City Hotel and transferred to the Olu deniz resort hotel. This will change next year as they will have a larger kitchen at the hotel. I don't really know why they can't prepare the food at the hotel because obviousley they have been for many years.

| Hi I am also worried about russian takeover. I go in July and only chose the hotel because of all the great reviews however it now looks bad! I dont know were there is any truth in the above but I would love to know if anyone has been in the last month and what they thought, it would help me decide what I will do.

| I can confirm that the food is being cooked at Sun City as I have spoken to the Hotel directly and also pestered First Choice so much that I got them to speak to their rep at the hotel. I can't comment on the quality of the food now but FC have advised me that the are special health and safety proceedures that they need to adhere to.
My concern is that we travel on the 26th of June and the food we are going to get served is from a hotel that has never really had good reviews for its food and Oludeniz Resort always had great reviews (the reason we booked it).
I have been on to FC all day today and they are offering me nothing and stating that they haven't changed my holiday and I am still getting an AI service. I am going to speak to trading standards tomorrow to get some advice as I didn't book Sun Cities bad food and I am now getting it.
I will let you know how I get on

| Ah well - nothing I can do!!
I have spoken to both trading standards and ABTA and both have said that they are allowed to cook the food off site and transport it in!!
All we can do now is go and hope that we can't notice the difference. We have never stayed at this hotel before so therefore didn't really know what to expect anyway and there still seems to be reviews kicking about that everything is still beautiful.
The holiday is what you make it and as we are travelling with another family, I'm sure we will have a smashing holiday
I will provide an update for everyone when we return on the 11th July but for now I am not even looking at another review until we come back.
Don't know what I have been worrying about anyway, there haven't been any bad reviews regarding the drink woo hoo

| It is a concern that there is conflicting reports - I have emailed hotel and they said yes the hotel has been rented out. What is going on For thoseou cannot rely on them but of you that have booked though Travel Agents of course they won't tell you if they are having lots of complaints as they would open themselves up to compensation claims etc I think you cannot rely on them. To the new manager who has posted please post again telling us the truth - have all the lovely staff gone, who is left there, has the afternoon teatime in Olive garden stopped, are the drinks being watered down and have you restricted ice cream for the kids! Also why close the kitchen if it is to be refurbished in the winter it would make more sense to use it for the Summer season unless there is a problem with it!!!

| oludenizdollz - We are going on the 26th of June and I have been on the phone to First Choice for days.
The Ice Cream is now only between 13:30 and 15:30 apparently and I don't know about the tea in the olive garden as I have never been before and didn't ask the rep out there.
I managed to speak to her and she confirmed that there have been complaints about the food but she says that its not the quality of the food thats been a problem just that they changed the menu and repeat customers like yourself didn't like the new stuff. She also added that they (First Choice) approached the new management about this and she stated that they are now starting to bring back some of the things people had come to expect over the years. Hope this is true as the reviews have always been good. I just got my tickets in today and the name of my rep is the same as the person I have been dealing with so really hope she wouldn't lie to me if she knew she would be meeting me in 3 weeks time.
We are still looking forward to our holiday as we have never been and didn't really know what to expect anyway, but I do feel for people like yourselves who have been going year after year and then suddenly everything changes.
I really do hope that you still have a great time if you do decide to go and I will put an honest review on here as soon as I get back on the 11th July.
Enjoy
G

| We are due to go here again on 20th June, bit apprehensive as last year we could not fault it which is why we went twice last year and going for 2 weeks this time. We are in touch with staff from last year who have told us it has been rented out to russians and all the bar staff from last year except one are working at other hotels, unsure about restaurant staff. Will post again when we return 5 July or if it`s that bad will go to internet cafe!!! Whatever we are going to enjoy ourselves and keep an open mind till we see for ourselves.

| OLUDENIZDOLLS, I am a travel agent and i would tell customers if we had had a lot of complaints for any hotel it is not us that has to give compensation it is the tour operatour so we have nothing to lose except customers if we did not tell the truth, so i think you should get your facts right first. Tour operatours would definatley not tell you they have a lot of complaints cos they don't want to be changing people and giving out compensation. There is no reason not to trust travel agents we provide an honest service, well most, and are not here just to get a sale we want to encourage repeat business which would not happen if we were liars.
I'm getting married in Turkey in Sep and staying at the Olu deniz resort i also have become concerned about these reveiws, called cosmos and they don't know anything about it we are going for 3 weeks and have paid over £2300 so i do hope the standard isn't crap otherwise i will be expecting a lot of compensation from Cosmos myself. I stayed in a russian owned hotel last year and the food and service was rubbish but i didn't mind so much as i only paid £750 for 2 adults and one child for two weeks AI. Please anyone that has recently been let me know your honest opinion and then i can make my mind up on whether to change hotels.

| Of course madnews- i accept your point i was referring to the big tour operators who i know from personal experience are not always to be trusted! I am watching the reviews carefully as I have made a provisional booking with the hotel and want to buy my flights on Wednesday. On balance I have had such good experiences with this hotel I think I'll go for it I may not trust the Thomas Cooks and Thomsons but I have faith in the hotel who say they are sorting out the 'teething problems'.

| Just to let everyone know, Portland are notifying customers about the change in management and the cut backs in the service being offered at Olu Deniz Resort. I managed to change my booking FOC to the Montana Pine Resort, which is only Half Board but is still getting very good reports. When I was last in Olu (2006), we met a family staying at Sun City and the feedback was very similar to current reviews, that's why I decided to bite the bullet. Holidays are too expensive and too short to take the risk, particulary now that Portland are acknowledging that what you see is not what you will get in the brochure. I hope this helps, my only hope is that Olu is as beautiful as I remember it!

| Hi,
Just to say Thomson's have also sent us a letter informing us about the change of ownership/management and the change of some activities
and amenities. We decided after this letter and the recent comments to change hotels and have managed to get into the Belcekiz Hotel next door. We did have to pay a little extra, we did it for peace of mind and am now once again looking forward to our holiday. I will say Thomson's were very helpful with this matter.

| I see you managed to change your hotel Zubie, you say it was a little more expensive, without being rude, can you tell me how much extra as I am thinking of doing the same. Cheers

| Hi Bigman_Tam
The best thing to do is to contact your tour operator as it will depend on when and how long you are going for as to what extra you will have to pay. We are really pleased we have changed and I will say Thomsons were very helpful. Hope this helps. Good Luck
