Hiya,

Congrats to all of you who have had or are planning a Cyprus wedding.

We are getting married in April 2007 (6 months to go!!) in Paphos Town Hall and I am please to say all the main arrangements have been made. Was interested in the pipers details. I hadn't thought anything like that would have been possible in Paphos. Think I will be sending an e-mail off to him. We've booked through I do wedding planner and they have been great so far. Main reason for not booking with a travel agent was that we wanted an exact date. The I do website has loads of details re budget etc which has been a great help. Starting to get really excited and would appreciate if anyone who has been married in Paphos could give me pointers on reception venues There are 11 folk going out so far. We would like it to be more than just a meal.

Looking forward to hearing from youz!
Jx

Hi J
I got married in Cyprus Aug 2001 and I know that thats a long time ago. And was just going to opt for the town hall, but under pressure from family I ended up getting married in a small church which is set within lots of old ruins in paphos. Im so pleased I changed to church. As you will know, that once you are on Island you have to visit Town Hall for your Licence. The place is okay but a bit dingy. (please dont think im being cheeky) I would realy recomend the church affair, even just for your photos.
I had arranged only 1 car back in uk, but once over in cyprus ordered cars via Mayfair for all other guests which turned out to be cheaper and of better quality.
I booked the Hotels hairdressers just for the day of the wedding, my hair was okay, but bridesmaid wasnt happy with hers, with hindsight now we should realy have had a practice session with her.
I got married at 2pm and arrived back in hotel where we had arranged a small buffet with Champers and cake etc, which was lovely. The Hotel we stayed in was the Laura Beach which had small resturant apart from the main dining hall, where we all sat down to a 5 course meal which was okay, nothing special though. After that we just went outside and joined in with the hotel entertainment. I was worried about my wedding thinking it would be a tacky affair, but it was one of the tasteful weddings I had been too. I hope you find this message useful. and if I dont hear from you, Have a lovely day and enjoy it!!!!

shar xx

Hi ya
Well im back from cyprus, and wot can i say!!!
Absolutely brilliant, We got married in the town hall, which must have been decorated since you went cus it was gorgeous,
The day went perfectly, hair and nails were all arranged through thomson as was the photographer. We thought the pictures would be slightly tacky so we opted for the small package, however when we saw them we had to upgrade the package as they were so good, We stayed in atlantica golden beach and the staff couldnt do enough, even down to scattering our room with rose petals while we were at the town hall.
The staff at the hotel and the thomson staff were so good that i want to do ita all again lol

Hi

We got married in Paphos town hall in April 1997 and it was a great day. We had a package arranged with First Choice and it couldnt have been better. Afterwards (after photos taken in gardens nearby to the town hall) we returned to our hotel (Paphos Gardens) for a champagne buffet with a few family members. We had arranged a mini-cruise to Isreal and Egypt whilst in Paphos and left on the evening of our wedding which made it a mini-honeymoon. I would recommend a Paphos wedding to anybody. We always said we would return on our 10th wedding anniversary and have just booked yesterday to be there for that date (with our two children now!) Hope you have a great day. By the way, our wedding was April 30th and when we woke up on the morning it was raining heavily!!! By 10am the sun was shining and the weather was glorious all day.

Hi J,

I'm quite new to this forum thing so apologies if I'm doing it wrong! I've just joined and saw your post so sorry it's a late reply!

Congrats on the wedding...not long to wait now you lucky thing! I'm planning on getting married in Paphos in June 2008 (ages away I know!) and I have been in touch with Igor from www.ido.com/cy. Is this the same planner that you are using? If it is I'd be really greatful if you could let me know how it all goes 'cos I haven't been able to find anyone else who has used them.

So far I haven't actually booked them but Igor has been incredibly helpful. I am trying to arrange a couple of large villas for my wedding party (16+child) and I really want to hold the reception in the grounds of one of the villas and so far he's sent me loads of ides for villas and put me in touch with a rental company. He's also looking into the catering for me at the moment to let me know if it will be possible, so all the early signs are fantastic. It's always a bit worrying though when you're doing it all via email and phone and you have no idea whether they are genuine. If you have booked the same people then it would certainly be a weight off my mind and I would be thrilled to know how your day goes.

You've probably sorted it now but if not any ideas on the reception yet? I know most people seem to have a meal at a restaurant or taverna but I have heard of people having it on a catermeran (don't know how to spell!) or on the beach. The beach sounds great as you can have a big barbecue - perfect for an informal do. The only thing is though I think you have to have a minimum number of guests for that, which is why I kind of ruled it out as we're a small party. I've recently also looked at Zucchinis web site and it looks fabulous up there but again you'll be paying a premium 'cos your party is small.

It would be great to hear from you and good luck with your day - hope it's all wonderful for you.

KT

Hi,
We are getting married on the 5th April 2007 at Paphos Town Hall. There are 20 of us going and we're staying in Coral Bay at the Ascos Coral Beach Hotel. We booked through First Choice and also have a boat booked for our reception that will stay in Paphos Harbour (or we can request it to sail out). The boat is called the Sea Star and is booked through Exclusive Yacht Weddings (on the web).

Hi all
I have just booked my wedding for next June at Zucchinis Paphos. Having the whole thing there, ceremony and reception. It looks lovely from the pictures and they are so helpful and organise everything for you....flowers, cars, hair, beauty, cake, photos, favours....whatever you want and its very reasonably priced. Beautiful views too. Check it out.

Well hello again,

Finally I get round to updating this and to let you know how our wedding day went.

We booked with www.ido.com.cy and all I can say is that Igor and the team are GREAT. We have the best time in Cyprus and Igor catered for our every need. I have wrote a testimonial on the company website http://www.ido.com.cy/cyprusweddingtestimonials.html - we are Darrin and Jane who were married on 18th April. From experience, I know it is a bit worrying when you book your wedding with someone you have never met, but trust me, Igor is an excellent wedding planner who knows his stuff. He is not in for the hard sell, he is there to plan the wedding the way you want it.

We were married in Paphos Town Hall, then back to our hotel (RIU Cypria Bay) for champagne reception and cutting the cake. In the evening we went to Demokritos, the Greek Taverna. It was fab. I can honestly say that there wasn't any part of the wedding day that we would have changed. Everything was perfect.

Good luck to all the brides-to-be who are planning on getting married in Cyprus. My husband and I highly recommend Igor and Ido wedding. You'll find them at www.ido.com.cy

As you will see from the pics on the Ido website, we also booked Kevin the cyprus piper for our wedding. He is such a friendly guy who also has your interests in his heart. You can book him through Ido weddings, or directly. His web site is www.thecypruspiper.com With Kevin playing at our wedding, it really did give us that extra something and livened the hotel up for the afternoon. He is a great piper and a great guy.

I have to mentioned that having saw a number of weddings in our hotel while we were there, I honestly feel that our wedding was the best organised (not that I am being bias) and nothing was a hassle for Igor and everything happened at the time it was suppose to. The day after the wedding we received our proofs of our photos and our album was delivered by Igor to the hotel a few days later.

If anyone has any questions, drop me an e-mail n17jck@yahoo.co.uk I completely understand how daunting it is to book your wedding from afar. If I can reassure anyone that booking with Igor you won't be disappointed then I am happy to help!!

I actually can't believe we have been married for almost 2 months.

Best Wishes,
Mrs Paton (hee hee hee)

Hi, I am getting married at Pahos town Hall on june 13th next year, I booked with thomsons and they have told me that they can't give me a time untill I arrive at the resort, I noticed that when you booked with Thomsons you had the exact date and time, I'm just a bit worried as they only do ceremonys untill 2pm and I really don't want to get married before 12.30 if I can help it, How did you find out the time as I really would like to know.

I am staying at the Louis Pheaton Beach Hotel, does anyone know anything about this Hotel all the reviews I have read seem good, I was going to have my reception at the hotel, but now after reading this I don't know whether to have it somewhere else, we are staying all inclusive so I thought at least after the meal, speeches and everything are over we can join in with the evening entertainment and then everyone isn't spending a load of money on drinks.....oh I don't know any advice ?????

Oh I have twin daughters who will be 4 and maybe some other children might come so anywhere would need to be suitable for kids

THANKS !!!!!

You absolutely can book your time in advance so you need to get on to Thomson and get them to sort it out. It's a simple case of ringing the church and making a booking. It may be that a deposit needs to be paid and perhaps Thomson are reluctant to do that.....

Hi have spoke to Thomsons today and they have confirmed with me that the Town hall has been provisionally booked for me on 13th June 2008 and that they have requested that I get married in the afternoon but they can only request this.
They have said that very occasionally due to circumstances beyond their control it may be necessary to change the date of the wedding, and that shortly after I arrive at my hotel a meeting will be arranged between me and the wedding co-ordinator to finalise my wedding arrangments.

Why won't they tell me, if like you said other people have been told ????

I want to book my reception but how can I when I don't know the time and possibly the date could move...please tell me what I can do to sort this out, could I get in contact with Paphos Town Hall directly ???/

It's doing my head in as really excited and want tp get planning but don't feel like I can

Anyone got any good places where I could have my reception, or would you advise to have it at the Hotel ???

Any advise is really appreciated...thanks for replying xxx
