| Hello! Can anyone tell me anything about Las Piramides in Tenerife. I am thinking about booking a cheap holiday with me and my kids (11 and 15) but have heard it can be a bit noisy.
Anyone got any thoughts?

| You probably have already come and gone.
If I may be frank...it was British working class folk who made the most noise.
At two in the morning, they stumbled through the corridors singing football
songs...then you heard German 'Hausfrau' s shouting back "Ruhe!" (Quiet!)
We Finns, shivered in silence, happy to let the German ladies take action on
our behalf.
I had to intervene however when a young man...mid-20's was screaming at his wife and then kicked her harder than I have ever seen anybody do that outside of the movies. Being quite large, I simply interposed myself between them and told the receptionist to hail 'the boys in blue'.
If you perceive this as anti-British, that is not my meaning. But the rule of the thumb that my wife and I have learned is the more stars a hotel rates, the better class of people go there. Money is not something yobs want to put into their accomodations...rather their beer.
If you want quiet and safe for the kiddies, try Lanzarote. It's peaceful and the night life is very, very tame. Definetely not the 'disco-animal den' that Playa de Americas or Playa Ingeles are.
I hope you had or will have a nice trip.

| Crikey ... long time since we stayed there ... 10 years in fact but at the time it was lovely - not really family orientated ie young children. Was quite near to everything but quite a distance to the main night time strip.
I've read other reports to say that its not very nice now but again this is a personal opinion and I can only speak for the time we were there - but things change so if you go I hope you have a lovely time.

| I agree with Chyortanas, the better the star rating the quieter the hotel although it varies from country to country. If you want a quiet hol, steer clear of the hotels that have a kiddies club as they're obviously geared towards the little monsters (sorry, I meant darlings!) and once your own kiddies are out of a particlar age group, you don't want other people's kids shouting all day long (yes I know, I'm a right old misery sometimes), but seriously, apart from the hotel being quieter, the standard is a lot better. Happy hols everyone!

| I slightly disagree on what you are saying about the star ratings - this being because we stayed at a brand new 4* AI hotel this year and we had lots of "loud children and adults" that we would never have wanted to holiday with.
I think this had a lot to do with it being a brand new resort and the prices were cheaper so if you were to book a brand new place think carefully otherwise it's right once it has been an established resort/hotel and the * ratings could work.
I have children but I always make sure mine don't bother anyone and they are really good for respecting other people but not many of them about I know.:icon_grrs

| Tinks, people like you are few and far between, most people allow their children to run riot and it's not just the Brits - mine always had to behave. Regarding the star rating, I still say in the majority of cases, the star rating means a quieter hotel but when you get to AI, then obviously there are more children and I think generally they are mostly 4* upwards. Regarding Tenerife hotels, the better ones are in Costa Adeje, they cost a lot more but are pure luxury and most families can't afford to take kiddies there. I personally haven't stayed in any of them but my daughter lives out there and she stayed in one and said it was fantastic but very expensive. Hope this helps.

| Maybe it is better to say the more exspensive an accommodation is the "queiter" it is. When I worked in Travel, it was very easy to fill a 4* hotel that had a good price on it with families, instantly turning a Saga used hotel into a party zone - this did happen. Hence why I feel it is more to do with price than star. There are some lovely 2/3* hotels in europe that I would choose over the 4/5* if I went again.

| it depends on what time of year you are going
as in the summer this hotel is Freestyle - which is thomsons youth brand - so only for the young and lively
in the winter - its is Thomson Young at Heart - for the over 60s - with entertainment.,
so its not really set up for families

| hi, i went with my girlfriend to the apartments in january of last year. i saw in reviews that it can get noisey in the summer months but if you are going any time soon the place is great. shops, places for food and loads of things to do are only a few minutes walk away. plus if you go for walks along the prom there is always something that would be fun for families.
the hotel was kept clean, rooms cleaned everyday. (as long as you are up) fresh towels every day or two. the only downfall is that the pool isn't heated, but thats the same as most places.
hope i was of some help.
