| Hey, you seem really excited! :) Well being young female i have found that when i had a male around me in the shopping areas and around the beach it was alot easier!! it might sound silly but local boys are a pain, they tend to try and drag you into shops, ( its not as bad as it seems) but try and stay with your girlfriend, the locals wont be as pushy! i have been to tunisia 3 times, i love it. hope that this advice is a little usefull!

Jan :)" --- Jan.C
unfortunately i got no leaflets, however the trips are basically
camel rides, horse rides, excursions to the desert, markets, quad biking and watersports, the same as usual really
didnt really find the hotel that good, not very presentable to be honest, dark and dingy. not for young people, the area wasnt that good. people where mithering sods, not to my liking, maybe it was due to the winter and not many buyers in the shops, 3-4 people per shop mithering you constantly.
unfortunately this has put me off tunisia all in. i wont return there due to the people in shops, even some of the staff from the hotel worked or had friends in the shops and were completely different people in both places.
hotel was Golf Residence, i have written a review.
thanks

| Hi Sean.
The Golf Residence is an ok hotel for 3*, but you have to look at it that you are in the heart of everything.
About 50m from the hotel is a nightclub and then 20m from there is the gold brau a brilliant place for buying beer in humungus glass things.
Also try to go to the Italian ice cram parlor going towards sousse, its on the left. Wonderful giant ice creams. There is also a place to do bowling which is another evening out. It is a real laugh and the people speak English, so you will be understood.
There is a lovely galleon in the marina where you can go and have a womderful meal for about £15.00 for the two of you. As you walk into the marina its right on the other side of all the boats. It has a big pirate standing outside.
The pool at the hotel is lovel and warm and clean. For an extra 5TD(£2.50) per day yiou can have a tv in your room and MBC2 channel has 24 hr films in english.
There is a supermarket in the hotel so stock up on the wiskey etc and you can buy lemonade etc in the supermarket as mixers. There are fridges in the room. As the hotel owns the supermarket you can bring drinks, food etc into the hotel.
The pizzas are good in the hotel and you can take these up to your room. They are really quite good about food in the rooms. The head waiter just askes that you bring back the plates etc.
I can't think of much more except one of the managers is called Rhiad and he is very helpful, if you don't like your room etc, tell him.
Hope you have a fab time.
Elisha

| Hi Seanog
Port el Kantoui is a wonderful place to be. I have been there lots and is now very popular. If you are going shopping it is best to go to the big shopping mall in souse, it has everything at a set price so you dont have to haggle. its cheap as well. But if you prefer to haggle get in the souks and haggle away just start at half ther price of what they say and get a bargain but be careful. I got a lovly navy leather poufee for £14 which he started off wanting £40 but I haggled cos I really wanted this one.
There is a very large hawk walking around in the Marina as soon as you go to take a picture of it a man appears from nowhere asking for money, so keep eyes open
Food is quite cheap but if you are going half board you only need the drinks super bargain wish I was going again. Let us know what you think on your return. Have fun !!

| Jan, we went to Hammamet last year and are going back to the same hotel in June. Last year we didn't go on any organised excursions and the people that did said they weren't value for money. We did however hire a minibus with a driver for the day with two other couples. It cost £150 but was well worth it. He took us wherever we wanted to go, we stayed as long as we liked and he also took us to historical sites which an ordinary coach would never have been able to pass. WE started off in Hammamet, drove down to Sousse via lovely little villages where you see how the real Tunisians live, then on to Port El Kantoui then back along a different coastline. He took us to the English war graves, a museum at the top of a hill where the Brits held out against the Germans for 3 days etc etc. I would certainly do it again instead of going on anything organised. We booked it through the hotel and I'm sure if you only wanted a car and not a minibus it would be a lot cheaper. It's worth considering, we booked it through the hotel reception.
We also had a taxi one day to the local market and he asked us what time we wanted to come back. He arranged to meet us at a certain time and we didn't really think he would be there but he was, he had even changed into a smart suit and tie and kept to the agreed fare.
I hope this helps you Jan and anyone else who is going to Tunisia this year. Happy hols!

| I've stayed in the Golf Residence in the past and it was fine. It is right next door to the Golf Brau (beer house) and there is also an internet cafe next door. It is an easy walk to the Marina where there are many restaurants and shops. I seem to remember there is a nightclub on site as well though it may not be open in February. There may not be much entertainment at the hotel itself as it is low season but you can go into any of the other hotels for that. ATM's at the entrance to the Port if you need them. Taxis to Sousse won't cost you much more than about 5 dinar (approximately £2). In quite a few of the shops you will need to haggle (offer about a third of what they ask) though in Port El Kantaoui there are quite a few fixed price shops. Suggest you have a look round the Soula Centre in Sousse first (large fixed price place) which will give you an idea of prices. Have a good time and remember that "La, gahli barcha" means 'no, too expensive).

| Jan, sorry, I'm not really with it at the moment, recovering from a flu type virus. That's why I wasn't at the quiz last night. Anyway, I hope the info I posted helps anyone else going to Tunisia.
