| Hi all,
We are looking at travelling to Cyprus next June with our daughter who will be 3.5.
First thoughts were Protaros as my partner visited here about 7/8 years ago and fell in love with it!!
However after reading a few comments people saying it's becioming a very brit resort..quite like a Benidorm or Blackpool.
We are not into eating brit food abroad - he's into his fish and seafood, and i love anything local.
We plan to hire a car and travel to Nicosia, to the Troodos Mountains, waterparks, find nice quiet beaches - and won;t bother venturing into any brit looking bars nut just wondered where you'd suggest.
We've looked at Protaros and Paralimni, Limmassol, Coral Bay, Paphos and Nissi Bay.
But i'm stuck as where to choose! He's leaving it to me.
We want somehwere with lovely beaches, a clean hotel, with nice pool area for dd - in a good exploring base, family friendly
Don't want too much do i??
Thanks in Advance x

| Hi Shiraz,
We have been going to Cyprus for the past 12 years, we always stay in Limassol, although the beaches are not very good in Limassol, Limassol is the centre of Cyprus. If you are hiring a car then you'll have no problem. You can take the motorways or the coast road to where ever you wish to go. The Troodos mountains are very beautiful. Cyprus is full of history.
There are some beautiful beaches on the island, govenors beach and ladies mile to name a few. These beaches are very close to Limassol.
Coral Bay is supposed to be lovely, our friends stayed there this year with their 3 children. They are like us, don't like Blackpool holidays or Brit pubs abroad.
Most places have lovely little Taverners, typically Cypriot.
Ayia Napa is definately a no no for us, loud music and brit cafes and restaurants, loud music coming from everywhere. Only went there for one day to have a look, that was enough.
Read some of the holiday reviews for Coral Bay, and Nissi beach.
I hope you find somewhere you like.

| Go to Rio! Hardly any Brit stuff there, good food, great people, fantastic beaches, and cheap.
Just got back from Protaras, very disappointed with the new Blackpool in the sun, the Brits have struck again!

| Hi
I felt like protaras was very much blackpool by the sea but without the kiss me quick hats......
We stayed at Tasia Maris Gardens apartments which is in nissi bay when we had our kids with us it is spotlessly clean and the pool area is beautiful - 5 mins to the beach as well and if you walk down along the beach to Nissi Bay it is beautiful down there........ jump on a bus or get a taxi into Ayia Napa during the day and your hubby can eat his fish menus to his hearts content and sitting on the pier is so relaxing and you can enjoy jet skis boat trips and parasending if you so wish.....
you can also get the bus into protaras and check it out for yourself .... fig tree bay is beautiful and a must for the kiddies and you can shower on the beach and get changed ready for travelling home
So I say go for Tasia Maris Garden Apartments check it out on the website and have a look for yourself....
We have no kids going with us this year so we are going to Tasia Maris Hotel which is next door in 20 days time and I cant wait.... but I aint counting.....
Have a super super time..... wherever you decide to go and i hope I have helped....

| Protaras is lively, is sunny, has a great mixture of local, new, old, british themed, karaoke, even a McD's but its not Blackpool ! I've been enough time to both and don't get the same thoughts or feelings in Blackpool as I do in Protaras.
I've been to some places that were a lot more tourist only, nothing else on offer resorts and this is nothing like that !

| would recommend coral bay or paphos we live in village called tala just outside
dont particularly like limassol ( consider it blackpool with sun)
but like anywhere depends on what you like and where you go while you are there
most places in cyprus you can find the brit bars/cafes if you want that or the local tavernas
would stay away from ayia napa
regards keith and sue

| No matter where you go in the world & you stay within the closed area you are going to feel Is this another blackpool but if you dare to branch out then you will find so many nice places around just waiting for you. I have been to Protaras & ayia Napa many times & there are so many beautiful places to see & do, just as many as there is in Paphos

| Been going to Protaras for many years now. Yes there is lots of building but no high rise, all villas. Never had a "brit" meal yet. there is still loads of bays and tavernas that the "blackpool brigade" have not found. Phafos is being spoiled by the amount of civil building work going on. It starts just after you leave the airport and now they have decided to dig up the harbour area. Best beaches are at the Farmagusta end

| BLACKPOOL give me a break. We have been going to Protaras for the past six years and are going back on the 13th August. I live in Wigan so if it was as good in Blackpool i would save a hell of alot of money!!

| can'nt go wrong with Sweet Memories in Protaras been going there for 9 years. Family run, nice pool and a little paddling pool for the little one. Although on the main road there is not much noise and it's far enough away from the 'strip'. Plenty of local tavernas close by. The Flocas has just opened and thier fish is really good. Close to Sweet Memories is Super S run by Tasos he's mad but good for local info. Sweet Memories is about a 15 walk to the beach. Blue Bay is nice and quite and Fig Tree bay is very busy these days. Paphos is a building site avoid this year. Coral Bay nice beach but close to Paphos. We use this as our base as we do'nt do karioki etc.
