i would have thought the hotel will be in charge of health and saftey.
if its the hotel you want to complain about. if it is you could write to the hotel. or see a solicitor about getting them to write to them. if you write yourself, wouldnt expect a reply back though...

who is in charge of health and safety in Cyprus hotels?

Thanks for your help , did write a letter whilst in the hotel to the general manager and also another as I departed with my home address and email . I have received no reply as yet.

I returned to my hotel room one afternoon to find 2 beds pulled apart and occupied by 4 ppl attempting to repair or lay the carpet underneath the beds. The stench of glue/carpet adhesive filled the corrider.

The hotel thought it acceptable for my family to sleep and use that room having provided air freshener ! Surely after carpet adhesive is used the advice is to ventilate and leave the room for 24hrs before use .

After the tragic deaths of tourists in a cyprus hotel due to inadequate air con/ventilation last year I would have thought that cypriot hotels had stringent maintenance protocols to follow.

Does anyone think that this is acceptable behaviour by any hotel let alone one claiming to be 4 star!!

no i think it is disgraceful that they can come into your room when on holiday ahd start doing maintenance work, especially when it involves highly toxic materials,it wouldn't be allowed in this country.
the room should have been taken out of service for at least 24 hours.
what if you had breathing problemsie:- asthma etc you could have ended up in hospital.good luck, tom.
