We are a couple with 2 children and all in desperate need of a holiday. Would like to go away after xmas and have a good new year in the sun. We did this as a couple before the children came along but on a tighter budget. Anyone out there got any ideas on apartments to be booked direct. Any ideas on affordable ideas more than welcome. Many thanks. Andy & Ann

Hello, this is my first time posting here, but just wanted to say how much I agree with the above poster.

I went to the Flora apartments 7 years ago, and it was fantastic then. Very clean, and a lovely place to stay. We now have 3 children, and tend to go AI, but I would love to go back there one day.

We're off to the Flora this summer, 20 of us in fact, 5 families with kids ranging from 3 to 16 years & the 2 replies above have made me feel better, we had read some dodgy reviews aswell as some really good ones. To be honest a holiday is usually what you make it yourselves isn't it. Roll on 22 July i say!!!!!!! :)

great to see the praise for the Flora. We too enjoyed a holiday there about 5 yrs ago. We are independent travellers and came across the hotel while driving around, got a good price and stayed 2 wks.

This year we came across La Florida Apartments, just down the hill from the Flora, above the supermarket and the pub McGintys (stuffy indoor seating only) It was very reasonable ( booked via their website direct) but it is sc only; no restaurant and only an expensive pool snack bar It was very clean, quite comfortable, with more or less the same sized rooms as the Flora but it may not suit families with young children. There are lots of stairs to reach level 3, at the rear, where the quietest apartments are located. Note : all rooms beginning 100 (level 1) face not just the wonderful sea view but also the very busy and very noisey main street and are directly above the pubs from which ear-splitting music goes on from about 9pm to 12.30am-ish 7days a week.

We mainly ate out down by the harbour but we also had dinner twice at the Flora (non guests pay at reception for the buffet meal, which usually includes one local dish) We found this good value .

Hope this offers someone a choice of apartments at economy prices.
