| The island itself is lovely, we hired a car and toured around , we just found Puerto Rico very tacky- but each to their own.

| I have stayed in PR on and off for about 10 years and like it.....I suppose I must be tacky!
We stay in an apartment near the harbour, so we dont have the hills to worry about and we have a very relaxing holiday.
The day is spent mostly by the pool or beach and then early evening we walk to the centre and choose from the hundreds of restaurants where we want to eat.
It is true that the food includes a lot of steak and chips and pizza, but you can find some nice restaurants that cater for other tastes.
The only draw back is the people who stand outside each of the restaurants and try to persuade you to come in, but once you get used to ignoring them, or polotely saying that you have eaten, it is a doddle!
Puerto Rico has got a lot busier over the years, but for some reason, it is the holiday for me.

| We really love PR and have many hols there - usually for a winter warm-up in Jan or Feb. We are now getting up-the-tooth and find the hill climbs too difficult. But for young and mid-aged people it should be fine. We regularly used the same food place at the front of the shopping centre and it was good and cheap. Thre is a Macs there if you prefer. This year we stayed a Tourito which is between PC and Peurto Mogan and it was quieter with very noce hotels but nothing much to do.
Have a great hol.

| Puerto Rico is a nice place aslong as you dont mind people diving out of restraunts hoping to get you to try there food.WE went for two weeks and enjoyed the majority of our stay. As long as you can avoid being stopped outside every bar and restraunt you'll be ok.
If your looking for a beach based holiday I'd advise amadores where its cleaner and theres no boat going in and out of the harbour all day.
its generally quite clean but places let it down, The foods good and cheap, gud for a week maybe not 2 however

| Hi I go to pr every year and Have been going for nearly 10 years now. I love the place all the locals that I have met are brill and you then get all your freebies. Not that I'm a freeloader or anything. I waouldn't change the place. PR can bee really noisy at night if your with a family and if you are not a night owl, but like others have said try staying at Amadore.. A lot quieter and a relaxing goodnight sleep ready for the next day of adventure. PR also has lots of restaurants. I highly recommend Mama Pinos. Tato a member of staff that works there is hilarious and also the chef there is brilliant as well, freshly cook flammbes right in front of your eyes. The restuarants at Amadores are good, but the only one I highly recommend ios the Tatoo Paradise. Scottish and English breakfast, lunches and at night it becomes a Mexican . The owners are really down to earth and great fun. They will look after you. Real English Tea> The mexican is fab,. The chef actually trained in Mexico, but he is a local lad (I think).

| puerto rico is great, busy, fun loads to do both day and night. nice beaches, easy access to "traditional" gran canaria, great weather and and great people. Shoppings good, foods outstanding and there is something here for everyone if they can be bothered to look. right choice.

| I went to Puerto Rico with my fiance in November last year and had a great time. We just wanted a cheeky week in the sun to break up the winter and that's exactly what we got. The weather was 30 degrees every day - couldn't believe how hot it was. I think it might have been something to do with it being set into the cliffs and being sheltered. I got the best tan i've had in years.
There are a couple of levels to the resort. We stayed high up on the clif-top near the Europa Centre - one of the big centres with bars and restuarants - there is another bigger one near the bottom of the hill. our apartments were called Roslara and they were basic and comfortable - huge balconies that got the sun all day so we were happy. We were located sort of in between the beaches and it took about 15 minutes to walk down the hill to either of the beaches - only walked back up the hill once though as it's very very steep and in the heat can be a bit much. The taxis are very cheap though so getting around isn't a problem. We spent half our nights in the Europa Centre at the top of the hill and half in the other centre further down. Between the two centres there are hundreds of restuarants, disco bars and fun-pubs. Lots of Irish bars with live music/comedians/kareoke, whatever you enjoy. The restuarants we found were all quite similar - steak houses/pizzerias and some chinese buffet places and indians. You wouldn't go hungry anyway as you can get just about anything you like to eat if you go looking and don't give in to the first PR that hassles you into their restuarant - it's a little bit of a pain but you get used to it!
As for beaches they are both fairly small so are both pretty busy most of the time - Amadores is probably the nicest and cleanest and there are some lovely wee restuarants down there, but it's qutie rough sand, made up of crushed shells. If you're fussy about beaches you'd probably enjoy Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas better - stunning sand dunes. You can get the bus to Maspalomas though from Puerto Rico for a couple of quid though and it's a nice day out.
A final thing - outside the Commerical Centre, when we were there, there was a guy selling buggy tours. If you get the chance you should do that. It was loads of fun. You go up into the mountains driving these groovy little buggies and have a picnic - they are great fun!
