Salou - Urgh?

Postby little misses on Mon Jul 24, 2006 5:22 pm

Hello, can someone please reassure me that Salou is a fantastic place, my daughter and i are going for a girly holiday and everyone i tell is acting as though i have made a big mistake. I went to Callella last year and had a fab time. Some ideas about the train service would be good as we plan to go to Barcelona, shopping. Any other tips or suggestions would also be very welcome.

How old is your daughter?

We got back 2 weeks ago now. It was our 3rd visit. I recommend Cambrils for a Visit. Get the bus from the main street to Cambrils every 1/2 hour and spend the day shopping and eat lunch at one of the cafe's near the Marina. It's a great way to spend the day and the place was really quiet.

I've just spoke to other half as he took our 2 kids to Barcelona. They got the train and it was very busy each time. He recommends the 8.30 train rather than the 10.15am one.

I don't like the beach in Salou (been there 3 years in a row and it doesn't get any better). But it was fine for sunbathing at our hotel. We also enjoy the theme park a lot too.

The Boat House down off Av. Carles Buigas (Carrer de Murillo) is a great place to eat.
Hope you have a good time.

Thanks alot, you're probably thinking my daughter is young infact she is 23, really this holiday is for me to do all the things i should have done when i was younger. I really want to visit a water park and go on a pedalo, What's wrong with the beach?

The beach is filthy. It's covered in ciggarette butts and ash and litter everywhere. Cambrils is a nicer beach but none of the beaches in Salou that we've visited have been minging. I've never seen such a dirty beach and it's not improved over the time we've visited.

Salou - Urgh?

I'm very surprised with all of your comments, i have been to Salou three times and will be going back in June of this year. Not once, have i seen a dirty beach. Each time i have been i have witnessed the little tractor cleaning it each night. The streets are very clean too. Its a place where anyone of any age can go and will enjoy it. i have been twice with the girls, and "will be" twice with my fiance (in June 07). All three were very differenct BUT very good. i have great memories....
The places to go, as a"single" or group are 007, bus stop, Charlie Chaplins, Kiss, and Snoopies but to name a few.
I have not found anything i can complain about (only the animals they cage in Las Ramblas, Barcelona).
I felt i had to reply as i did not agree, and i would hate for anyone to think they have booked to go to "a hole".

You may have well have been by now, so what did you think?
