They accept the pound, euros and lira.....the only thing you need to take lira for is taxis and little bits and pieces...I took a mix of lira and pound andhad no problems...they give prices in both...I think the weather in Oct is still nice and warm....never been in Oct, but apparently it is on a par wih May time.....which is 20's ish.....

Hope this helps...

Hi, we are off to Sarigerme in a couple of weeks. We were wondering how much money we should take and what currencies are best? We will want to do some sightseeing, gift shopping and go into town a few times. I have heard that ice creams are only available for an hour and half each day, so will need to take money for some. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 8 and 13.

Thanks for any advice

Motherduck, I would probably take 50% of your holiday budget in pounds, 25% in Euro, 25% in Lira.

I know this might be a pain but the reason is that in most situations you will be able to use Pounds. However if your kids plan to do the First Choice evening kids clubs (which you have to pay for, but my kids really enjoyed them 10 & 8 yrs old) think it was 6 Euros last year, they would only take Euros. In the evening again if thins are the same and if you intend to join in the Bingo for example they will only take Lira for your card.

As for how much to take we don't do the sightseeing bit, or the walk into town as there isn't much there. The site is in the middle of nowhere and we spend the fortnight on site. For that reason we will probably take about £250 to cover kids clubs, ice creams, gifts, tips for the luggage porter and would expect to come back with change.

We go in 2 weeks as well!!!

Hi mothrduck....yep, ice creams are only avaliable between 1.30pm and 3pm....There is a bloke selling them near the pool bar, for 1 scoop of ice cream it is 2 lira, 2 scoops 4 lira etc etc...Too be honest, I only bought ice cream a couple of times...the rest of the time I made my little girl wait until it was free...:)....

I took £400 pound with me and spent the lot. I bought lots of gifts and stuff for me and my daughter to take home, bought a couple of lilos...I went on 2 trips...make sure you use Sarigerme Tours in the village, next to the taxi rank on the right as you go into the village. Muds baths trip cost 15 pound per adult and 7.50 for children over 7 and its free for chidren under 7. It cost the same for the 12 island boat tour. Both were fantastic days....There is a market in the village on a sunday, plus a variety of shops where you can buy gifts etc etc..use these in the village and not the complex shops as they work out a lot more expensive.
Taxis to the village cost 10 lira each way, you will need lira for taxis and bits and bobs, but to be honest they seem to prefer british pound.

Basically, you can spend a little or a lot, depends on what you like to do on a holiday......

Hope this helps..

Just a little nhote to you and digger, you DONT need to take any euros....I didnt and I never had any problems. You will need some lira but not a lot, just take pounds. If you use the kids club on an evening as we did, they accept both pound and lira. So honestly, I wouldnt bother with euros. I would change 25% to lira and keep the rest as pound...

Thanks for that tip Mich.

Mother Duck if any of your party are particularly tasty to the mossies I would think about getting the odourless garlic capsules and start taking them. The amphitheatre is a breeding ground, literally, for the mossies and I normally get covered in them. I took the capsules for the first time last year, plus the anti mossie roll on and I only got 2 bites last year.

I did see a lot of people covered in them though.

You are totally right digger, the mossies are terrible, but I went into the village and bought sin kov which worked wonders, works out as only a couple of quid and it really does work. I usually get eaten alive by them, and I only got 3 bites whilst I was there for 2 weeks and that was because I forgot to put some on my face!!!! and too be honest, I just used bite relief on the ones I had and they went down within 2/3 days and dint really bother me.

As long as you go prepared and remember to use mossie repellent then you should be fine...

If as same as last year yes they have a Towel Hut where you can get fresh towel's every day. You get Towel tokens when you arrive, had over your token and take towel back at end of day to get your token back.

you can use both currencies, but if you want to change money use a proper exchange office. the guides in sarigerme told us there can be some rainy days during october time. no one can gurantee it.

Hey, just so you know for def, it is the same as last year regarding the towels..... you get a towel card and can exchange that for clean towels every day....If you are going out for the day, exchange your towels the night before and then you've got clean towels to take wth you in the morning...Hope this helps

:)

Thanks for the advice about the towels I really appreciate it, they take up soooo much room in the case I really did not want to take them. i noticed a few people talking about the 'steak house' is this on the complex itself or is it in the town, is it fairly cheap ??? :-)

The steak house is on site....I was on the orange side and the steak house on this side was between the main pool and kids clubs, not too sure where it is based on the blue side...

I never used the steak house to be honest, but you do have to book it in advance and I'm sure you do this where you book for the al carte resturants......

No problem about towels...I never took any and didnt miss not having any of my own....You also get clean towels in your room everyday.....So I wouldnt take up that extra space in your case with the towels, for a week or 2 I'm sure you will find the towels that are provided just fine....

Hi new to all this forum stuff so you will have to be patient but as I have been keeping an eye on tis forum since booking a couple of months ago I dont know wether to laugh or cry so here's a few questions:

Do i have to be a saddo and get up at crack of dawn to get a sunbed in the shade/umberella?

What are the kids den's like? (we are on the blue side)

Can you get cocktails on all inclusive or do you have to pay?

is the soccer club worth paying for?

Is the food as bad as everyone is saying?

How much for a room for extra day? (our departure flight leaves in the morning so I assume we will have to pay extra)

hi, unfortuantly, you do have to get up really early if you want to sit somewhere of your choice.....I was up at 5.30am one morning and saw some bloke putting his towels out.....was amazed...I never got down to the pools before 10.30am but I always managed to get somewhere to sit....If you have young children then go to the 3 slide pool on the orange side, near the steak house...and you should be able to find somewhere to sit, even if you cant, the grass is close enough for you to sit there and be able to watch the kids playing in the pool......

The food is not as bad as what people make out.....not all the food was to my taste, but you have to remember that you are in Turkey and they will not do food which you are used to...They always had the basics of chips, jacket pots, cheese, pasta etc....if when you go to your selected resturant and you do not like what you see, wonder over to the other colours buffet resturant and eat in there...you ARE allowed...just try not to go when it is too busy....

cant remember what else you asked, will go back and read the other questions and answer them for you...

The kids clubs are great, my little girl loved them, but beware if they go to the chocolate party they will get covered in it!!!! so take some old clothes that you dont mind them getting dirty!!!!

Not sure how much the rooms are for an extra day,but book it there as it is cheaper and you get it for longer...it depends on when your flight leaves as to when you will have to vacate your room, but the reps will tell you when you get there.....

For cocktails you will have to pay extra, but to be honest i never had cocktails, i found the alcohol on offer just fine...

I hope this answers your questions, honestly you will have a fantastic time...I wish I was still there...we had a great time and my little girl didnt want to come home....

Mich..

Last year I found that it depended what you wanted. If you want an umbrella with your sunbed I would suggest that you need to be before 7am and even then there will always be a chance if you leave it that someone else will take it. You may also see some people wandering around with umbrellas at night and taking them back to their rooms. If you are happy to have your sunbed under one of the large canvass areas, which we were, I would leave it no later than about 7.45am / 8am to get a spot under there.
