Moray Firth Dolphin Spotting Cruises

Hello,

As part of our trip to the Highlands this year (see my other post), we'll be taking my daughter on a Dolphin Spotting trip on the Moray Firth.

Looking at the web we can see several firms offering these. Has anyone done one, and got any good/bad/indifferent stories to tell?

Thanks in advance.

I saw this area on the news the other days as apparently BP or some other oil giant want to start drilling or laying pipes down in the area.
There was people saying this shouldnt happen and should be a protected area.
Then to my dismay they found a beach baby dolphin or porpoise the next day and instead of putting it back in the sea they just euthanized it, which i though was really hipocytrical of them really.
They said if they put it back it would die?, they didnt know that for a fact , it could have gone back in heard its mothers signal and found its way or the mother might have heard the baby and come to get it.
Even if it had died in the sea it would have been food for sea life the way it should be.

Yikes! I hope my daughter doesn't see anything like that - she'll be absolutely gutted!

Hello people,

Here is an update to my original post. We came across this site:

http://www.dolphinspace.org/index.asp?pageid=10370

This lists several operators who offer Cruises around the Moray Firth.

We've booked one - will let you know how it goes!

Hello,

We've returned from Nairn, and we went crusing with Phoenix Cruises.

Reasonably priced and it was a lovely trip, albeit a bit choppy...

Booking recommended.
