Hi, we are thinking about going to Egypt in july next year. I know it is likely to be EXTREMELY hot is it true you are not allowed out of the hotel if it gets too hot?? I heard this from a travel agent. What is the weather like in May out there? Thanks

Er........I think I should change your travel agent! Of course you're allowed out of your hotel! Day, night, hot, cold, whenever! It's your holiday!
Plz see the thread on the Sharm forum about the average air & water temps thru the year.
There is also the Tips for 1st Timers thread, which is soon to be updated when Iain can transfer the new info.

Great thanks SEKHMET this was a travel agent in a high Street shop. I only went in for some advice and brochures, I thought it was a bit odd. Anyway thanks for your advice, much appreciated!! :0)

The only 'hotel' you aren't allowed out of is the one with bars on the windows.

I was there in August a couple of years ago and we went out day and night although it was extremely hot and you were grateful of air conditioned shops and restaurants. Most people stayed in the hotel and went into Naama at night when it was slightly cooler. Only in the high 30's then!
