Rob82.....you are best booking a package when in Egypt. But HAGGLE HAGGLE HAGGLE!!! Play one trader off another, they're all after your money.

Check that the flights, minibus, guide, Museum, Pyramids etc etc are all included in the package.

You will find many many stalls, shops and travel agents etc selling these "packages" all around Sharm.

Cario is a city that is half the size of London but three times the population.....basically it is madness!!!

You may enjoy trying to get around by yourself but I would advise a guide who will also act as a translator throughout the day.

Iain, thanks for your advice, is much appreciated. So that 105pp you paid included everything then....flight, guide, minibus, museum, pyramids etc? If so, then i think we'll more than definitely go for that option.

Yep...105 all in!

I have heard prices from 100 - 175 spoken of.

I don't know if the time of year is important as demand always fuels price and of course the opposite is true as well.

I'm off to Sharm in August!! Can't wait.

Is 170 per person or the whole group? Seems expensive for 1 day.

The prices quoted above are all per person.

It is actually quite good value!

To anyone who goes on holiday for a week and believes that an overnight trip to the pyramids is a bit too much. I advise you to think again.
I visited Cairo from Cyprus. It was an overnight cruise with a packed day in Cairo and cruise back the following evening.
The day was so full it was difficult to absorb it all and the time spent travelling is perfect for reflecting on what you have seen.
We could have quite happily returned home after our trip as we were frightened that anything else would be an anti climax.
As it turned out we managed another two trips in Cyprus in our final week.
We also had the same experience in Tunisia where we wanted to see the Sahara desert. We were only there for a week and it was an overnight trip. We saw so much on that trip that the time travelling was soon forgotten.

I would return to the Pyramids again, they were awesome but the Sphynx gaurding the pyramids gave me a feeling that will stay with me for ever. I have no words to explain what happened there.

Hi ...not sure if people are aware but www.egyptair.com are offering very good prices for flights from Sharm and Luxor to Cairo....I have just booked a return flight for 35 going in June with some friends.

I have done the whole company tour thing in '06 and decided never again!!

So I have booked flights ...going to get a taxi which I am booking online for 24 picking up and dropping me off at the airport and sort myself out with the Rough Guide book.........

I will be visiting Pyramids, Sphinx , Solar boat museum , Cairo Museum and Khan Al Khalili.....NO perfume shops and NO papyrus shops !!!!!!! BLISS ;-)

I will book a guide BUT only if my friends want one.....I use a company based in Luxor .....they are very efficient and I have done at least 8 trips with them....

Hope this has helped...........

I don't have any information but I am travelling to Sharm in June and I am interested in booking flights, taxi etc. seperately as suggested by Kazl.

Kazl, do you have information on the site(s) you are using to book these seperately? I have been looking at Egyptair for the flights and assume that I can advise them that I will pick the tickets up in Sharm (airport?)

Any information would be great!

Cheers.

So in all, 167 for the both of us. You can book a great guide for Cairo of Luxor through this site -
