Hi, There is information on The Golden Sharm on hotels4u.com. This is not the same hotel as The Golden Resort on Cosmos. I too go to this hotel in August. Apperently all the entertainment of a night is in Italian, but I'm not to fussed about the entertainment on holiday anyway. I intend to enjoy the sun and the all inclusive drinks.

we have just come back from the sharm and to be honest i would try to get into the golden resort instead, The hotel and staff were fantastic but the food and all inclusive service was shocking. every time u order an alcoholic drink u have to sign for it and if ur getting a round in u have to sign for every drink!! Also every brit who was there while we were there had delhi belly including us 5. Although the entertainment and activities are done in Italian there are a couple of them who try to get the brits involved
(Franko and Danny) and some of the shows are hilarious even in Italian. The tea and coffee only come under the all inclusive banner at breakfast and wine only at dinner. There are no snacks until 6.30 and water is by the cupful.

Hotel and staff 9/10
all inclusive board 3/10
food 5/10

hope u enjoy whatever u do
p.s it's bloody hot out there. 37 degrees C at midnight!!!

haha all in all not feeling great about my choice in hotel. Oh well guess it is what you make of it. As long as the beer is flowing the pool is nice and the sun is shining its gonna be a whole lot better than England.

When it was said there is not a lot to do around the hotel, does that mean it is far from the beach and the centre? And with regards to the food all being italian, does anyone know if this is true? I know there is a fish bar, but what other food is available? And what are the traditional egyptian dishes???

Also is there anything that I need to know for going to egypt the first time...like what will the locals find offensive etc...?

Oh and I know alot of places are suffering with extreme heat this year, resulting in fires etc... Has the temp in egypt risen? Its supposed to be boiling anyways has it got any hotter cause I can imagine it being unbearable

Thanks

Steve

Hi Toner - I am due to fly out next wednesday 8th August and reading the reviews I am feeling a little down - but hopefully we can all hide in 'Brit Corner' and make our own holiday. I am going with just my teenage daughter so am very nervous. The only advice I have been given is to not drink the water (or brush teeth, mouth open in shower etc) but several magazines and people have recomended Acidophilus tables (from Holland & Barrett) These consist of the good bactaria, like Yakults, but I bought 100 for 3 and you take one or two a day. Not sure if they will work but worth a try, but also bought imodium :-} just in case. Also been told to take Egyptian pounds in small denominations so have got 20 egyptian pound notes (about 1.88 I think) and I haven't changed a huge amount. Yes its hot - about 46 degrees - but its a holiday and I think we'll all have fun. When are you due to go?

I am off to Sharm el Sheikh later in the year and the information I am hearing is that imodium does not work. You have to get something from the chemists over there but the name escapes me. Maybe someone else can help on that.

Hi

I have booked to go to the Golden resort and aqua fun on 13th August and am starting to have big regrets, last year we stayed at the Coral Sea Resort and it was fantastic but it seems that after reading some of the reviews that this holiday is going to be a big disappointment, firstly I have now been told that the aqua park which is in the hotels grounds is not going to be open and that they do not provide bottles of water even though you are told by the reps on the day of your arrival that you drink at least 8 bottles of water a day. Also it looks like you are allowed to visit the sister hotel but have to pay for all food and drinks which I have never heard of before (done this many times in Spain)
I can't get a straight answer out of my travel agent Thomson's and have told them to expect a big claim on misrepresentation of the Hotel.

Everybody is so depressive...I've had a revelation lol I suggest just making the best of it, its hot, theres all you can drink beer and food...nice pools and hopefully the rooms will be adequate. Moneys been payed so there isnt a fat lot you can do! I go on Sunday, bring it on! CANT WAIT! :-)

www.goldensharmresort.com It still looks pretty nice to me...nicer than staying in Sunny england thats for sure!
