Egypt 1st, We went in May with 2 kids aged 7 & 8 and we had a great time. We are going back next May. I think most people who have recently come back seem to of had a great time. I'm afraid you will always get a few who are never satisfied and will always want to complain about something. It is a great place for children, lots for them to do.

Just got back this morning......had to wait nearly three hours to get our cases from the plane as the baggage handlers were all off sick...not a nice end to our holiday.

I will post a review when I have more time but will give a brief summary, we stayed in block 10 which was overlooking the quiet pool, the room was ok for us, me my wife and boys 10 and 12, by coincidence when we arrived we were allocated the room next door to Skylinenorwich so between us we had loads of info from this site.

We all had tummy trouble but used Antinal which seemed to clear things up within hours, the main problem for us was the heat, we expected it to be hot but hoped that it would be manageable, the daytimes were ok as long as you are happy to keep jumping in the pool for a cool off but evenings were just as hot, after a 10 minute stroll you are literally dripping with sweat so need to get back to the air con.

We organised our own day trip to Cairo, saw Pyramids , Sphinx etc using Reallife Egypt as our tour guide , this worked well, however, of anyone else is thinking of this, unless you particularly want to buy perfume or papyrus ask your guide not to go to these places as you do get the hard sell, the Egypt Museum was hot but interesting to see about 33 mummies some partially unwrapped and still with teeth, hair etc. We went on a boat trip on the Nile and inside one of the Pyramids too worth doing if you can budget the extra for it.

Our kids did not want to go to the kids clubs as they say they are too babyish...unfortunately there was not much to keep them occupied except the pools and sea, they could do with having an air conditioned games room, pool, table tennis etc, they would of liked to play football, basketball etc but it was really too hot even in the evenings.

If anyone has any tummy / earache probs we would recommend to go to the Pharmacy opposite the 24/7 supermarket ( left outside of HV), sit down and have a chat with Ahmed in the Pharmacy he works in there from 8am until midnight and loves to chat and tell you about how things are in Egypt and ask questions about England.

Anyone has any questions, happy to try and answer.

Hi Lev! Glad you had a good time. Sorry didn't find you!! I would say we booked the Cairo trip and completely agree with you about the perfume and papyrus places. Glad it wasn't just us as I felt quite upset by it at the time and bought some perfume for mum that I knew she wouldn't really like. Don't get me wrong the guide was fantastic but you do wonder if they take a cut from these places and I would say to anyone to say you don't want to go there and it will be fine! Obviously, if you want the stuff and some of it is very nice, then the chap we saw in the golden eagle palace I think it was called was very friendly and knowledgeable. I just didn't really want any flippin perfume!!! All in all though we had a fab time. wish we were back there in the sun instead of Cornish drizzle and gales!!! (Much rather 50 degrees than 16!!!!)

We went early December ( Coral Sea Resort ) and it was pleasant all day, but the sun was only really hot from about 11.00 till 3.30 when it started to loose its heat. The unheated pool was freezing ( not sure if HV has a heated one) but the sea was O.K. Evenings were quite cool because of the wind but the entertainment was moved inside as was the bar. Overall very nice and much better than England. The staff could not do enough and they put up Christmas Trees and they had a Gingerbread House selling chocolate Santas !. We are going to HV next Monday and to another hotel in Sharm next January. Love Egypt and you can rely on no rain. Have a great Christmas just pack a cardigan or light jacket.

Tell them its your birthday and they spoil you. The tummy thing is just a few hours if you go straight to the chemist and get tablets they work within hours. I was unlucky got it 2 times but it didn't spoil the holiday, my son and rest of family got it too again did not spoil the holiday make sure you drink 5 litres a day of water. The food is alright i'm on diet and it was fine loads for me to eat and have very fussy husband and he ate loads. They have roasts, stes even chicken pies and loads of fish so don't listen to the negative stuff we have booked to go again next year so cannot be that bad eh!!!!! The only thing I found negative was the entertainment area not enough seats.
