I went to Luxor for 14 nights and loved it. I would not even think about sunbathing topless as Luxor is regarded as the sacred land with all it's temples and stuff there. Omg! just don't do it, it's not worth the aggro from locals and also fellow holidaymakers.
I believe when you are in their country respect their culture and keep and low profile to enjoy your holiday to the max!

Wow, Is there anything you don't know about Sharm?!!
This has been really useful, thanks for taking the time to post it all.
We are going to Sharm In October, myself, hubby, daughter (4) and son (19 months).
I had originally booked to go in August (duh!!!) considering I am a strawberry blonde with freckles and kids are pretty blonde too, would not have been a good idea. Luckily managed to change date to October which should help to prevent full lobster colouring!!!
I was still wondering if we had made a mistake booking for Sharm considering the age of the kids but forewarned is forearmed as they say, and I will be printing out your info to read again and take with me in case of dodgy tums etc.
We will be staying at the Sunrise Island Garden which has had some mixed reviews, but I'm going with an open mind. Will post a review when we get back.
Thanks again for the info.

You're welcome; hope you have a great time : )
Just don't ask me anything about diving or AI hotels as I can't tell you anything about them!

Hi, I am going to Sharm in December. With the dollar getting stronger what would be the best currency to take? I have been before and always used USD but the rates are getting worse. Cheers!

I am intrigued as to why you would take $$?
Surely, you have to change ££ into $$
Then when your in Egypt you change $$ into LE
OK.....Just a suggestion, rather than go through two lots of exchange rates, stick to changing ££ into LE.
Or is that just not thinking straight??????

We recently came back from Sharm, really enjoyed the holiday, people were great in the hotel.
The only problem we found was that the cashpoints in the area we were, stopped accepting british cashpoint cards, so for the last 3 days we were unable to get any money out. We tried 3 different cashpoints in the resort, all said the same about our card being captured and unable to process our request.
My advice is to take English pounds as a lot of places accept these as payment, if you don't want to carry all cash take travellers cheques, although some hotels don't change them, the banks will.
Also as the exchange rate has dropped to 7 ish Egyptian Pounds to 1 pound sterling but out there they all the shops seem to work on 10 egyptian pounds to 1 pound sterling. So if you pay in sterling you actually get a better deal.
Hope this is of help to some of you.
