HI
I am thinking of booking the Holiday Village Red Sea for my honeymoon on 20th september 08 for 2 weeks. Does anyone know if it is affected by the ramadan as it will be on at that time of year
Thanks
Amanda
Tips for 1st Timers
I've never been at Ramadan but have read several posts on another forum about this....many people have had the same query. From what I've read, it doesn't affect tourists at all.

I've bookmarked this page to print off before I travel because your tips have been really helpful! I went to Sharm last year and loved it but experienced some of the down sides too- like pushy vendors and unwelcomed attention as a woman but other than that it was fantastic.
If I decide to not buy a visa at the airport but later decide to go to Ras Mohammed can I buy one later and if so is it much more expensive?

Claraa,
You will have to return to the airport to buy a visa, so you'll have a taxi to pay for, both ways...& you'll have to haggle hard...both ways...maybe you should just buy a visa when you land? It will be time consuming to have to faff about returning to the airport; you could be relaxing on the beach / by the pool.
: )

Hi
Great tips Sekhmet i have written them all down, i go to Sharm in 2 weeks and i'm so excited!!
Just wondered if anyone knew how easy it is to plan a day trip to Cairo and how much it is likely to cost. I've heard its better to fly, but is this not expensive??
Also, just reading some of the comments about unwanted attention, i am going to Sharm with one other girl, we are both 23 and i am blonde! should we worry about going out when it is dark?
Thanks xx

First timer to Egypt - Jolie Ville - I've been warned about a wind. We intend to go 12th March, anyone know if it will be passing through? Also going with a person with walking difficulties (stick not chair) he does not want to go to any tombs but I will. Is there somewhere he can wait for me?
This forum is a great idea - thanks for all the help!

We love the Jolie Ville & will be there again soon : )
I know it's changed hands & been refurbished so hope it's at least as good as before.
We always go for Xmas & usually NY (but aren't there for NY this time) & there is sometimes a breeze. Haven't noticed it to be a nuisance, day or eve. Am usually on another forum more than this & haven't noticed any travellers (at any time of year) say that the breeze is irritating or unusually strong; we find it very welcoming.
Jolie Ville is very flat & there are golf buggies driven by the staff to take you around the complex.
Re: tombs, I assume you mean Valleys of the Kings & Queens? & associated temples? The ground there is very uneven, both in the Valleys & at the temples. Yes, there will be places for your companion to sit & wait, but you may wish to discuss it & decide whether you would prefer to do that excursion alone as it's a long day & may not be at all enjoyable for someone with walking difficulties. We went thru Thomson & it was 4.30am pick up for 6am flight (you can't go by bus to Luxor but you can if visiting Cairo & pyramids, or fly to Cairo). March won't be mega hot but it will be hot enough......your friend may want to wait for you by the pool at the Jolie Ville, sipping, long cool drinks! Enjoying banter with the bar staff! We have seen quite a few people with varying physical difficulties staying at JV & the staff have gone out of their way to help where possible. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
