Hey Joshuaedw,

Just booked to go to the Coral Sea Resort next March.....whats the pool lounger etiquette for the resort???

Just so I don't embarrass myself on the first morning! :D

You get a card and exchange it for a towel with the pool boys. They will find you loungers and put your towels on them. At the end of the day take your towels back and they give you your card. Even you can do that!!!

Make sure your on your lounger at 10am though as the go around collecting everyones belongings who aren't there. This stops people putting towels down and going out for the day as most trips go before 10.

The procedure is exactly the same for the beach.

No need to take towels as theirs are clean and if you get them soaked, as I'm sure YOU will, you can always get dry ones if you speak NICELY to the pool boys.

Loved Coral Sea Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone. 4* definitly.

We are going to Sharm in August. We would love to do a quadbiking trip but not sure we will be able to because of the kids. We are a family of 5, the kids aged 9, 9 and almost 11 ... but the 11 year old is slightly disabled (hemiplegia) so not sure he would be ok on a quad on his own even if he was allowed ... never done it so not sure ... though he does ride his own bicycle, it would depend on how much he needed to use his right hand and leg.

Presumably the girls would be too young/small at 9 ... and no way we could fit 3 kids on 2 quads with us!!!!!!!

Any ideas???

Also, does anyone know of a camel riding experience that is interesting(!) for kids?

Thanks
Alison

we went quad biking there were a few kids on quads with a adult but not many, and none on there own. the brakes are on the handle bars like a normal bike and you use your right foot to accelerate.my quad pulled to the right so i had a sore left arm when i had finished .it was fantastic for a adult but i wouldnt want to take my kids (9 + 11). i think camel riding would be far better and im sure your kids would love it. we booked the trip from marko .he has a stall near days inn and gaffy beach, trips were a good price

Thanks for the advice Sally ... think we'll try the camels instead! I'm sure the kids will think that's very 'Egyptian' too!!! Just worried about how hot it will be late August!!!! maybe they do a very early or late camel trip when it's a bit cooler. Seeing the sun rise or set would be great.

Mainly out there for the snorkeling (which the kids will be thrilled with having been 'amazed' by few fish in Costa Brava last year!) and to relax by the pool ... but a couple of trips would break the weeks up a bit.

By the way, does anybody know whether anybody will do a sort of 'tandem' dive with kids younger than 10, with the child held beneath the instructor using their alternate air source? My daughter did this 2 years ago (then aged 7) in Turkey when she was away with her dad and loved every minute of it ... she can't wait to be 10 to do her junior open water!!!

we went march so heat wasn't a problem. from what I've here the sun rise is fantastic to see but will be very hot in august. sun set good but not as good as sun rise but no way as hot either. maybe decided when you see how kids cope with heat. husband loved the snorkeling and diving . i didn't like the fish swimming at me ,don't laugh cut my foot on coral trying to get away from them. i would make sure kids wear beach shoes in sea either take them or buy there BEFORE they go in sea. bet your still laughing but did make mess of my foot had to wear slipper most of the week. my husband ,when he stopped laughing dived with www.emperordiver .com .if you email them they can tell you if they do what you want. they answer very quickly. camel dive are also very well big . lot of places to dive so im sure you'll find some one that will does what you want

Thanks. Kids all have dive boots anyway for their fins, so will make sure they wear them at all times!

The Halomy where we're staying has a dive centre too, so will try to contact them ... though can't seem to find an email address for the hotel yet ... still trying on another thread!

many thanks for your replies ... August seems so far away!! :-((

PS ... sorry for laughing about you swimming AWAY from the fish!! :-)

COPIED FROM A PREVIOUS POST OF MINE

Just a few words before you all go and book all your trips through Hany.

I think that we all agree that the tour operators over charge people for the trips. Personally this year First Choice wanted to charge me 30pp for a quad biking trip into the moutains. I booked it direct with the travel agent in Naama Bay for 11pp. Quite a big difference and one to get angry about!!!

So how does Hany and the many many Egyptians that will book trips for you do it?

If I had booked my quad-biking with him or any of the others, they would have charge me say 15. Still a great bargin compared to the First Choice price. They will then book the trip themselves through a travel agent paying them 11 and keeping the 4 for themselves. They will tell you they are making nothing from the deal and they do it because they are your friend but......

Now I don't want to belittle what Hany and his friends are doing, just be aware that if you are going to Naama Bay, you could also pay the lower price.

There are hundreds of Hanys in Sharm booking trips.....just ask a few waiters / or pool staff or dive club staff if you must book through a third party.
