As you may of read in my post on Coral Sea Resort there is a genuine guy located in the Sharm El Shiekh area who does really cheap trips (Probably cheaper than your Tour Operator :thumleft: ) His name is Hany and we went with him on 3 excursions: 2 quadbiking trips and 1 snorkelling trip.

Quadbiking - Starts (Approx.) at 4am-8am or 5pm-9pm (Its better at 4am as it is cooler)
We Stopped at three stops on this trip.
We started at the Quadbiking Shelter near Naama Bay and travelled on your own Quad through the desert to be welcomed by a Bedouin Tribe. You climb up a mountain to watch the sunrise. The second stop is the Echo Temple you get off your bike and altogether shout a name out and let the temple do the rest!
The third stop, stops at a bedouin tent and you are offered a chilled (From a freezer. Yes a freezer in the desert :D !)bottle of 7up, Coke or Fanta (Which you have to pay 1 for) and a free cup of herbal tea. You then get back on the quads and ride back.

Snorkelling - Starts at 9am (All day)
We stopped at three different places and followed the instructor to see different kinds of coral and fish. You where also allowed to go off on own without the instructor!

Quadbiking cost: 12 per Quad, 6 for a child on your quad.
Snorkelling cost: 10 per person including 7up, Coke or Fanta and for adults beer. :occasion1
Hany will also do Cairo trips, Bedouin Experience trips and many more. You ask him for a trip you want he will try and do his best to get it!

If you would like Hanys mobile number please private message me for it.
Thanks for taking interest in this thread. If you have any questions please Private Message me or reply to this thread.

"As you may of read in my post on Coral Sea Reort" --- Joshuaedw

But this is your first post according to the post number ::roll:

I think what you've discovered is that there is an under the counter economy in Sharm / Egypt.

Never ever ever pay the tour operators prices for excursions :thumbdow:

But shop around, talk to your waiters, dive school......they all know a man that knows a man, if you get my drift, wink wink!

Trouble is that they are operating illegally and could be fined or imprisoned for dealing in this way. But to put this into some sort of perspective, nobody cares......it just happens......and always cash

Best bit of advice I would give for this is for you to shop around. Never accpet the first price you get and play one off another.

:)

Ah.... just had a thought (after posting this) perhaps you meant your review of the Coral Sea Resort????

We went with our tour operator. There is no way on this planet I would trust some under the counter scheme for something as dangerous as diving.

err mistaken there.....I didn't say take "under the counter dive lessons"!!

I said talk to the people who work within the dive schools about trips to Cairo, dining with the starts, quad biking, shows, even snorkelling.

But hey come on the topic is about Tour Operators ripping us tourists off for the trips.

And there my friend is where they are now losing out because so many Egyptain people are doing deals.........legtimate deals at a lot less than the Tour Operator. :)

Get real or get ripped off!

And as a footnote....speaking a fully qualified BSAC Instructor, never take sort cuts when learning to diving. Learning to dive is all about recovering from a situation.....anyone can dive but only the educated will recover from a nasty situation at 20m.

It would be good that if they are just general questions that they are put on the forum......after all, that is what it's for :thumleft:
