i am looking into doing a trip from sharm to the pyramids in cairo.
i know about egypt air but was wondering about taxi prices to the pyramids from cairo airport ???
how far (distance ) is it from the airport the the pyramids?
is it wise to do the trip (two of us) on our own ?

I would look into getting a guide as pyramids (Giza) are at least 20-30 minutes from the airport and to get the most out of your trip you need a proper driver (keep oyur eyes closed is the best option as manic to say the least) and a good guide
We used reallifeegypt last year and they meet you outside the airport and you have use of your own air conditioned mini bus, driver and guide for around £100 for the whole day and they tailor the trip to whatever you want to see
We arrived at 8am went out to Sakkara (quite a trip but don't remember how far), carpet factorythen pyramids at Giza, museum, papyrus shop, felucca trip (sail boat) down the nile and back to the airport for 7pm. We opted to miss out the Khan el Khalli bazaar.
Our trip was just for three of us but got hassle at Giza until our guide came to stand with us so always felt safe
